Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?
Hi, thanks so much for the review. I've been thinking of getting this for ages. Are you able to answer a question? The original Earin buds have a background hiss that means I never use for listening in a quiet room. It spoils anything with low-volume passages, e.g. classical music. Perfectly...- tkalee

Jaybird Bluebuds X bluetooth IEM's
I actually keep the left and right positioning, with the controls right behind my right ear. At first, the buttons were facing the wrong way (i.e. pointing inwards), but I just twisted thecable, and now it works a peach. I can easily reach back to adjust volume, skip track, etc. As for the...- tkalee

Jaybird Bluebuds X bluetooth IEM's
I just got mine a few days ago. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the sound quality. I wasn’t expecting it to be all that good since I’ve got a pair of Philips bluetooth headphones and the sound was a bit tinny and flat to be frank. And an earlier purchase, a Sony bluetooth clip, has background...- tkalee

Short cable?
Hi, does anyone know where to get a short cable for my 1964ears IEMS? I've got a bluetooth receiver for the commute, but the stock earphones that came with it are crap, and I'd like to use my IEMs. However, the cables are too long. Something about 40cms would be ideal.- tkalee

The Portable BASS kings..The Pioneer HDJ500 vs AKG 518 LE vs The first look at the new AT WS55 Solid Bass
Quote: "Airy vocals" is exactly my impression as well. To be honest, I wasn't that blown away by the bass at first. I still prefer my 1964-Quads, but of course they're custom IEMs, and you get what you pay for. But now that I've worn the WS55s for three weeks, slowly burning them in...- tkalee

The Portable BASS kings..The Pioneer HDJ500 vs AKG 518 LE vs The first look at the new AT WS55 Solid Bass
Quote: Absolutely agree with you on this. I have too many 128 kbps tracks (It's just too much trouble to convert my entire collection to 320 -- plus I only have 64 GB on my iPod) and they really do sound thin and reedy. 320 electronic, dubstep, drum and bass, etc sounds awesome...- tkalee

The Portable BASS kings..The Pioneer HDJ500 vs AKG 518 LE vs The first look at the new AT WS55 Solid Bass
I've read right through this thread, and have ordered the ws55s rather than the 55i's. I don't think the controls would add that much to the functionality, and the iPod is always just in my pocket or in my hand being read. Now I'm just waiting for the takkyuubin, which should get here next...- tkalee

The Portable BASS kings..The Pioneer HDJ500 vs AKG 518 LE vs The first look at the new AT WS55 Solid Bass
Hi, I've been reading this thread, but don't knew whether anyone's answered this about the ws55i's controls. Do the ws55i controls catch on things and produce cable noise? I had a pair of IEMs with ipod controls and they were terrible. (It didn't help that the cable wasn't great...) Also...- tkalee

Any advice on buying iPod Touch?
OK, I caved and finally got an 4G iTouch, 64GB. I've heard rumours of the 5G, but figure I don't really need 3G wireless and a better camera. The unit arrived last night, but I haven't been able to check it out because of the typhoon and today being a verrrry busy day at work. (So I shouldn't be...- tkalee

Any advice on buying iPod Touch?
I've just taken the wife's iPhone for a test drive, and am pleasantly impressed. No hiss with my 1964-Q customs at all (aside from hiss on the actual recording). I can understand why some people say it sounds dry, though the distinction for me wasn't a big one. On the other hand, the iPhone's...- tkalee

Any advice on buying iPod Touch?
Thanks for all the replies, fellas. A lot to chew on. Thanks especially to those who suggested waiting for the 5g. Sounds like a plan... It's also nice to see a fellow expat in Tokyo. Can I ask, where did you get your LOD? Akihabara? And how is the Fiio e11? I've got the e7, but it just...- tkalee

Any advice on buying iPod Touch?
Hi, iTouch users. After my wife got an iPhone with her new job, I've been wanting one for myself, but the monthly contracts for a smartphone here are ridiculous, and that’s put me right off the iPhone. However, the idea of getting an iPod Touch for music and apps and keeping my mobile for...- tkalee

1964 Ears
Hi, thanks for the quick response. I'm leaning more and more towards buying one, and I have heaps more questions, but will probably have to open a new thread to ask them. To answer your questions, I'm extremely pleased with the quads. I had a refit issue over my right ear canal, but the...- tkalee

1964 Ears
Hi, I'm afraid I only have the Quads, so can't answer your questions. However, maybe you can answer a question I have: I'm seriously thinking of getting an iPod Touch for portable, but don't want to skimp too much on SQ. At the moment I use a Rockboxed Clip+, since I love its playlist...- tkalee

Ye gods, that's more than eight times what I paid for my original shipment! Even your first customs charge was more than six times what I paid. For the record, the refit package I got was marked returned goods and warranty repair. Quote:- tkalee

1964 Ears
I just got my quads back from their first refit. No charges through Japan customs, and I noticed the envelope was marked "Warranty repair." I don't know about The Netherlands, but that seems to be a good sign for further refits (which may be required in my case). Quote:- tkalee

The quads make it a lot easier for me to tell 192K apart from 320K -- expanded soundstage, among other things. Quote:- tkalee

1964 Ears
I have a fit question/issue. I've noticed a difference in seal between when my jaw is closed (e.g., biting down lightly) and when my jaw is slightly slack so that my lower teeth are in front of my upper teeth. The quads have better isolation in the closed position, but feel tighter. In the slack...- tkalee

1964 Ears
I'm certainly not an audiophile in the class of many here, so take all that follows with a huge grain of salt! I thought the mids were very forward and broke up a bit when this range was crowded. Bass was good and the bass line well separated. Trebles didn't jump out at me, but how much...- tkalee
