Sony MDR1-ABT Impressions
I finally received my MDR-1ABT. How fantastic it is! The best Sony Bluetooth headphones! I was hesitating to decide which one, MDR-1RBTMK2 or MDR-1ABT. The former is about $100 cheaper than the latter, and I didn't know whether the extra $100 would be justified. I think it is. The pair...- DrMIS

Sony MDR-XB950BT Bluetooth headphones
I also used to have MDR-1A which is similar to MDR-1RBT. I think the paddings of MDR-1RBT are a little thicker, but not by much. The pressures of MDR-1A and MDR-1RBT are similar to me.- DrMIS

Sony MDR-XB950BT Bluetooth headphones
I used to have Sony MDR-1RBT. It is a really good pair of bluetooth headphones. I really enjoyed it, but eventually returned it because there is a new Bluetooth cans from Sony (MDR-1ABT) which I plan to purchase when it is available in the US. In the pictures, MDR-1RBT looks smaller than...- DrMIS

Sony MDR-XB950BT Bluetooth headphones
Thanks, guys, the burning-in process and the high quality mode indeed have improved the sound of my cans. Very impressive! As for the buzzing noise, I usually don't hear, but last night when I wore the cans, I heard it. The surroundings were really calm. This morning when the surroundings...- DrMIS

Sony MDR-XB950BT Bluetooth headphones
Thank you, guys. I have placed an order of the pair of headphones last Saturday and received it today. My first impression is that the pair is just OK. I like the design, but the sound is kind of cheap. I may need to burn it in for a while.- DrMIS

Hey, HEAD-FIers, I know someone has already mentioned that everything is plastic except the top part of the headband. How about the parts holding earcups? Are they metal? If not, are they strong enough to hold the cups securely, not easily breakable?- DrMIS

Sony's new flagship 2014 - MDR-Z7
You're welcome. As for your DAC and AMP, I have no experience with them. I guess they would power up your MDR-Z7 enough (70 ohm). I am searching for a headphone amp that supports 24bit/192khz or higher resolutions. I think Sony MDR-Z7 has the capacity to utilize them in full.- DrMIS

Sony's new flagship 2014 - MDR-Z7
I have purchased a cheaper version which sells with the warranty that can be used only in Japan. Sony USA won't honor it. If you have any issues, you will have to contact Sony Japan. I think that this policy is stupid. Otherwise, I don't see any differences. Mine is great!- DrMIS

Sony MDR-Z7 or Philips X2/27 Fidelio Headphones
Thank you all for your thoughtful responses. I finally returned Philips X2, not because it is a bad pair of headphones, but it is not for my need. My ears are accustomed to Denon AH-D7000. Some years ago I decided to try high-end headphones, starting with Beyerdynamic DT 990, moving to AKG...- DrMIS

Sony MDR-Z7 or Philips X2/27 Fidelio Headphones
I have received my Philips, and am considering to return it. For $300, this is a great pair of headphones. It has a good sound image, but it is not of my taste. My pair also smells bad. It is heavier than Sony MDR-Z7, and the headband is hurting my ears. I think MDR-Z7 produces truer...- DrMIS

Sony MDR-Z7 or Philips X2/27 Fidelio Headphones
Thank you all for your kind comments. I have just received the Sony. It is quite a pair of headphones. I like the design. As for sound, I don't know. I am burning in the pair, and will see whether the sound would improve to my taste. By the way, the audio cable that is attached to the...- DrMIS

I was going to purchase the Philips X2 as well as the Sony. But the price of X2 has gone up (377.99 + 29.90 shipping). Do you think this premium is worth? Is it that good?- DrMIS

Sony MDR-Z7 or Philips X2/27 Fidelio Headphones
MDR-1A has narrower or smaller sound stage than Denon AH-D7000. If MDR-Z7's sound stage can improve after enough break-in, it may be for me. Thanks for your information. By the way, how comfortable was the Philips that you auditioned?- DrMIS

Sony MDR-Z7 or Philips X2/27 Fidelio Headphones
Sorry. It was a misspelling. I mean physical comfortableness. I like the sound image of the Denon. It is also the most comfortable pair of headphones until I found Sony MDR-1A. I like the clean sound with strong bass of my MDR-1A, but the sound stage of the pair is not good for me. I would...- DrMIS
