Hifiman HE6-SE
The main thing to watch out for when driving the 6se V2 off of a speaker amp (besides using lots of caution as to not blow the drivers), would be the noise floor. I've tried the speaker taps on 4 different amps and there was a distracting amount of audible hissing on my vintage amp and a cheap...- theangelboy

Klipsch HP-3
Hmm... that's a good question. If it were me, I would probably try doing it in a resting position first (not on a stand or stretched like when it's on a head) and use tape to hold the leather in place until it cures. However, if that's what you already tried the first time gluing, I could see...- theangelboy

That's really unfortunate that they didn't sew it as those stitches on top would suggest. :triportsad: But, I think if you get the right glue you should be able to fix it. I don't know what kind of glue you have tried already, but getting glue that works on fabric/leather can be tricky since it...- theangelboy

The Creative Aurvana Live! SE is $28 on Woot! That's the open box/used price I've seen on ebay, so this is a good deal for brand new. A lot of headphone for the money and a good way to get a taste of what biocellulose drivers can do. Also easy to mod, I put mmcx connectors on mine...- theangelboy

Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review
The genuine leather version of these pads have been best aftermarket ones that I've found. I use them on my D2k and my X00 PH. They have a similar effect on the frequency response as the old J$ leather pads. I little extra bass (add some attenuation rings to really boost it and get +10db bass...- theangelboy

Hifiman HE6-SE
The only Hifiman planars that I have heard that I would consider "warm" at all would be the HE-500 and to a lesser extent my Edition XX (but that's an oval, so that's out). I've also modded my HE5se to be pretty laid back but that's just because out of the box the tuning was pretty bad to my...- theangelboy

I've heard it argued before that the single sided design benefit is there is less obstruction on the ear side of the driver (all single sided designs I've seen have the magnets on the outside). But Hifiman's Stealth Magnets are supposed to help mitigate that, if their marketing is to be...- theangelboy

Hifiman HE400se
They are open back but he meant that a planar diaphragm is a sealed structure (no air can escape around it), so any added air pressure on either side can make the whole driver flex and it can made noise when doing so. This is a very common issue with Audeze headphones, for instance, where the...- theangelboy

A/B testing the grilles removed is easy. Remove the grille and hold it by the edges so your fingers don't block any of it and move it towards/away from the headphone while listening to your preferred test track, pink noise, etc. Do both ears at once for the most accurate results. Should be easy...- theangelboy

Mod House Audio Tungsten - Planar Magnetic Headphones - Impressions and Discussion
This. I learned way more about how measurements related to sounds I was hearing when I started making measurements on my janky flat-plate rig than I ever did staring for hours at measurements made by someone else with a $50k HATS. Glad it worked out for you! Those drivers look good. Sorry for the unreliable method using the flashlight. It was theory I came up with but I havent got to test it on a stuck pair so I don't know if it works for sure. While I haven't tried this on stuck set, physics says that you should be able to tell if it's stuck by shining a bright flashlight through the grille side and looking at the color pattern shining through on the pad side (all the pictures I have seen the membrane is stuck to the outside magnets)...- theangelboy
