STAX SRS-X1000 and SR-X1 Now Available to Pre-Order At HeadAmp!
So, this post by @MousoMachineGun here https://www.head-fi.org/threads/stax-sr-x1-new-entry-model.971680/post-18022421 suggests the SR-X1 has decent sub-bass, moreso than many other Stax, whereare your opinion was it was bass-light. Is your evaluation based on bass levels relative to other...- Kabeer

Stax SR-X1 (new entry model)
TBH, looking at the side-by-side photo with SR-Xmk3, the SR-X1 driver doesnt look much bigger. It is also curious whether the SR-X1 has supra-aural or circumaural earpads...none of the photos seem to show. Here is a translated version of the Japanese leaflet:- Kabeer

Orthodynamic Roundup
This is very big news for this thread; the first time a really major mainstream company is producing planars in volume. Something which was of interest in this thread a decade ago. Fingers crossed it leads onto better things in terms of mainstream planars. In related news, i suppose the Yamaha...- Kabeer

Amplifier for Wharfedale Isodynamic Headphones
You can connect them to a speaker amp (see attached instructions and spec). To prevent slow-term damage to your speaker amp, ensure you connect it fully balanced (Not TRS) to the speaker amp terminals. Bridging the ground can cause some problems. I have driven them from Speaker amps in the past...- Kabeer

Orthodynamic Roundup
I barely am around here these days, but saw @Currawong 's post on facebook about the YH-5000. I am amazed this is happening and very excited to hear one if I can. I also contacted Yamaha probably close to a decade ago around them getting back into the ortho game. I tried (unsuccessfully) here to...- Kabeer

Orthodynamic Roundup
I would be almost sure it is not related to PMB or their cousins. The D35 is the next gen from the D30/50, it would likely have a similar 'Akai' style driver. Possible single ended. whether it is a recycled driver, or a evolved design is the question. haha, thanks :D. Perhaps apart from wanting...- Kabeer

Love the collection. You managed to snag things I couldn't in all these years :D! bravo. Can you tell us (or show us) what driver the Otto E-1000 has please? Also to answer the question a few days ago on the Victor line-up, the D50/70/90 are all very different. They have different drivers...- Kabeer

Orthodynamic Roundup
Hiya, unfortunately I don't have much further than the posts you found, and it was so long ago I don't remember all details. I think I used iFrogz pads at the time, but I think I would go for pads without netting material, certainly trying different pads will be a large part of modding success...- Kabeer

Cleaning Orthodynamic Magnets in Ultrasonic cleaner?
Hi all, Wondering if anyone here is knowledgeable enough to help me. I need to clean the innards of a rare vintage Yamaha orthodynamic driver. Dismantling is difficult and requires extreme procedures. I also have a small ultrasonic cleaner (the typical home ones): My question is: Will...- Kabeer
