AMB beta22 - hum issue, no idea where it comes from
Even though the transformer is fairly far away from your amp boards it might be the cause of some of the hum. I recommend turning the transformer and seeing if that increases or decreases the hum. If it does keep turning it til you get minimal hum or none at all. Also if you are using...- Zashoomin

I would like to come and bring gear as well. Not sure what I plan to bring but a half table would be nice. Might need a full one though depending on how big my new amp turns out to be.- Zashoomin

I mean I also understand that Head-fi is trying to make a show that they can host for headphones similar to how many different other products have large shows. This also creates "brand recognition" or whatever you want to call it...it expands the head-fi name and as an extension the hobby and...- Zashoomin

I hate to be negative about this event as it seems like it is going to be a lot of fun, but I am extremely dissapointed that that there will not be a section for members to show off their gear this year. Last year was small, and this year there isn't one. But even though it was small, I had a...- Zashoomin

I have no idea if I can make it or not, but will there be a place for members to show their stuff? If so, will it be bigger than this past year? And final question. Can I bring my stuff? I really want this year to be more about the members of the community than companies. If I can go...- Zashoomin

UPDATE! CAPACITY RAISE! - SF meet Saturday Nov. 7th - We have a venue and date! It's really happening! CAPACITY RAISE!! WE CAN TAKE 20 MORE PEOPLE!
I would love to come to this meet, but I need the date to become set in stone first. I honestly don't know what I will be bringing as I have a bunch of things I am building right now. If I do attend the only things that I will definitely be bringing are HE-1000 and Beta-22 not sure about the...- Zashoomin

Official HIFIMAN HE1000 Impressions Thread
I was part of the beta team and the original headband was a bit big, but when I traded in for a production pair, the headband that it came with was so short that it actually doesn't fit my head. Does anyone else have this problem? Also, The left side mechanism that is attacked to the headband...- Zashoomin

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
yes it does. Not just looks, but it also determines how easy or hard it is to work with, how long it will last, how flexible it is, how easy it will solder, etc... better cables will almost always also come with better insulation as well. Down side is good cables cost...- Zashoomin

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
I don't think there will be any difference other than the fact that a 6 braid will look cooler and be a bit thicker. That is if you choose to expose the wires instead of adding sleeving to them. I love plussound's wires (also take a look at toxic cable's wires. They are also very...- Zashoomin

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
1. correct 2. correct...btw you will soon understand why we all hate hifiman connectors. 3. you could do any of the ways that you mentioned, but you could also just have enough paracord to reach into the y split and have friction take care of the rest. Meaning that the material you use...- Zashoomin

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?
If you are going with a parmetal case you can get a 16x12x(whatever height you deem fit) will fit everything comfortably with room to spare. You can go smaller than that but it is going to be a tight. Or you can even order a custom size from them for a reasonable price, but it won't be as...- Zashoomin

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?
1. If amb isn't stocking them anymore you can ask around but one isn't necessary. 2. I get my cases from parmetal, but you can also get some from modushop. If you are going simple though I suggest you do a 1 chassis build, so you will need someting that can fit 4 boards and a transformer...- Zashoomin

Amp recommendations for Audeze LCD-2
I have owned both a concero (not HD) and DA8 as wel as LCD2's and have to say that the DA8 is a decent step up in almost every way compared to the concero, except for size and build quality. The concero is milled from a single block of metal and I don't think that any chassis can really compete...- Zashoomin

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
It is because there aren't many people into DIY lately. About 7 years ago there weren't many amps to choose from, so DIY was a lot more popular and therefore the Beta22 was also a lot more popular as it had and still has great documentation. It is still a top of the line design and I...- Zashoomin
