Grado Sr-325's at pawn shop; $120!! Only problem is...
Congrats and nice find. Things like that don't happen like that over here in the UK much. Hope it's as simple as a bit of soldering. If it does need soldering and you are looking for someone to complete it, take them to a TV repair shop (most also know alot about speakers) I got some repaired...- notuagain

Why are my ears ringing?
I've had a similar situation with using most headphones, but for some reason the AKGs I have tried don't present the same problems of other makes. It could be observed that AKGs are noted for not having an exceptional low end frequency coverage, so this could be relevant? I say stick with...- notuagain

Spend your 60 bucks on JVC RX900s, not extremely portable, but very nice bass extension and can be driven very easily.- notuagain

Your favorite headphones: What don't you like about them?
Thanks for positive feedback Also, the idea is to provide information on headphones that many people consider great, but giving information about the negatives of them too, which other people might consider highly relevant while evaluating different models. For example, I would not of...- notuagain

Your favorite headphones: What don't you like about them?
As a way of providing information about peoples' favorite headphones, how about we highlight areas that we think could be improved with them. Sennheiser HD25 - Feel uncomfortable after prolonged listening periods, soundstage too narrow, stock cable too short. After owning 3 different pairs, 2...- notuagain

AKG K340 Electrostatic Phones
That was the single area that let the 340s down for me, the low end. I don't think any modding will bring them to the level of bass response, of modern headphones. Still filling in the cups did tighten the overall sound and appear to add punch for me...easy mod to complete and adjust. The...- notuagain

JVC HAR-X700 and 900. Two of the best dynamics? Am I nuts?
could this be the first known RX900 re-cable? Warrior05: I put some steel wool behind drivers as filling (seal with tissue to avoid contact) brought out the topend quite well. Is it possible that production of the RX700/900 has actually ceased, as it's been months since anywhere worldwide...- notuagain

JVC HAR-X700 and 900. Two of the best dynamics? Am I nuts?
^ Exactly my opinion too. Once modded the boomy bass is replaced by a reasonably tuneful bass, with a more focused and direct sound.- notuagain

Wow a quarter behind a $1000 headphone! The irony Seeing that thread makes me feel the steel wool is a good solution for the 900's top end issues and if you are skeptical, try it, you might be as pleasantly surprised as I am. It really has altered these phones into a very well balanced pair...- notuagain

Please take care as the driver is very close to plastic cover and contact is easily made. 2. Placed some...- notuagain

I haven't had the chance to sample the RX700 yet, but the RX900 are well described above. Very modern, easy to drive, bass orientated headphone with wide soundstage. There are aspects of the 900s that I found and still find difficult to adjust to. The topend activity was simply non existent...- notuagain
