Upgrade from HD555’s - worth it for me?
I used to spend a lot of time on this forum over a decade ago and am now getting back into it. Currently using my trusty Sennheiser HD555's through an Ifi Zen Dac. I have to start out by saying that I always listen with the Truebass boost on. I know that's not the audiophile way to do it, but I...- trip221

5th Annual 'HeadRoom & Friends' Hits Los Angeles CA Sunday Aug.7!
I was running late but still made it there just after 3pm. I was pretty excited to get in on the raffle for the great prizes. Unfortunately when they say "raffle at the end of the day" and say the end is between 4-5pm, they really mean the raffle starts at just after 3pm. But at least I...- trip221

HD555 - Should I do foam mod? (with CmoyBB)
It was a piece of cake to do, as long as you have small phillips screwdriver. Jut be careful taking off the ear pads. I ripped one a little, but you can't see it and it doesn't affect anything. After further listening I notice the tighter bass, but nothing more. I'd say it's worth...- trip221

Suggestions for headphones for my pianist girlfriend?
I have a digital piano (although I am nowhere near professional) and use my Senn HD555's with it. They sound fantastic and are very comfortable, even playing for long periods. Mine are about 5 years old and have developed a small crack on the left side, but it has not affected anything and I...- trip221

HD555 - Should I do foam mod? (with CmoyBB)
Did it last night. The bass does sound a little bit tighter, but I think that's about it. Pulled a little too hard on one of the ear pads and it started separating, but just a little, no issues.- trip221

HD555 - Should I do foam mod? (with CmoyBB)
So I have my HD555's and my first nearly completed cmoy amp. This was my first venture into DIY electronics and I already want to build a CmoyBB with the separate bass control. I don't have enough money to upgrade my phones at the moment so am thinking of doing the foam removal mod. I've...- trip221

Sennheiser HD555 appreciation thread.
I love my HD555's too. They're just so darn comfortable. I'm starting to build a CMoy amp tonight with a buddy who's a whiz with electronics. Do any of you guys listen to your's through a cmoy? I'm curious to see if the sound improves much with the 555's and also my Grado SR-60's. I realize...- trip221

Anyone Had Experiences with Refurbed iPods?
That refurb ipod nano doesn't look so great, but I have a 5G video ipod that came perfect and still works great. I kind of wish it didn't, cause I'd like to get a new one, but can't justify buying a new ipod when I have one that is still functioning perfectly. If mine had shown up looking at...- trip221

New headphones for piano & PC
I'm glad you brought that up! With my open HD555's, I can definitely hear most noise in the room. The TV in the opposite corner isn't too bad if the volume's low, but if my girlfriend sits in the chair next to the piano with the laptop and itunes going, it's annoying. She thinks that just...- trip221

New headphones for piano & PC
I have the Yamaha CLP-170. I'm excited to hook it up to my mac and play around with garageband - have you guys done it yet? Don't get me wrong, the SR-60's sound great too, I just prefer the HD555's for the piano. I'm running them unamped.- trip221

New headphones for piano & PC
I also play the piano (digital Yamaha) and wear glasses and almost exclusively use my HD555's. I also have SR60's to compare them. With the Grados I feel like I'm listening to the piano through headphones since they sit on top of my ears and are very bright treble-wise. Since the Senn's are...- trip221
