    DAC-AH passive mod help: step by step

    alright, i just purchased 4.7uF solen polypropylene caps as per your recommendation. is it alright if i use generic ratshack cables to hook it all up, or will it degrade the signal? i think not, since the distance of the wire is so short, but maybe someone else has seen otherwise. i hope...

    DAC-AH passive mod help: step by step

    are there any advantages to using film caps over electrolytic? I'm kind of intimidated by the size and price of film caps. would a 4.7 uF 50V blackgate N be enough?

    DAC-AH passive mod help: step by step

    I'm thinking about doing the passive mod that has been talked about on the forums, but the pictures that I've seen are kind of confusing. First off, can I just use generic radioshack resistors and caps such as these: 1/2 watt 100k resistor 4.7uF 35V cap Secondly, what do I do with the...

    EMU 0404USB: 1/4 TS vs. Stereo Output - an underrated difference

    I'm intrigued yet skeptical of the difference between the two outputs. Is there anyone else who can support his findings? Also, does anyone know where to get inexpensive TS to RCA cables?

    Ath-CK7::First Impressions

    i think it's just a matter of preference. i think that the ck7's bass is very pronounced. you may just need an earphone with more bass to suit your tastes. i wouldn't say the sound has changed much with burn-in, but hopefully, you will become accustomed to the sound sig as you continue to use...

    making the XFI - out put sound like a true line out or close?

    u can never get true line out from an x-fi, since the output is amped within the card. in lieu of getting a dac, i guess you can just set the volume to ~50%, attach the amp, and set bitperfect settings.

    recommendation for amp or something to go between my laptop and d2000

    I suggest you get a DAC first or a DAC/Amp combination. Right now, I'm using an E-MU 0404 USB as my DAC and amp since it has both. The DAC section of the 0404 is excellent for the price, and the amp is decent. After you aggregate enough $$ you can upgrade to a better amp.

    Has burn-in ever been a bad thing?

    The focus of this thread is split between those that are talking about damaging the headphones by burning in and those who are talking about changes in sound from burn-in that may make it sound worse. I'm sure that burning-in at inappropriate volumes and circumstances will damage the phones, but...

    Has burn-in ever been a bad thing?

    I don't mean to incite a flame war, but i'm just curious if anyone ever had an instance where burn-in made your headphones sound worse instead of better. Please, indulge me.

    Headphone Choice DT990 or HD650?

    i think the big difference between the HD650 and the DT990 is the midrange. DT990 has less than the HD650 making it sound like it has a "V" equalizer-like signature. I've had both, but not at the same time, but if i were to choose, i would go with the HD650 because i found the treble of the...
