what is the receiver bound to that dx7 being used in?

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't an impedance adapter lower both the noise floor and the signal, requiring you to turn up the volume more, increasing the noise, accomplishing nothing.

I would recommend shure srh-840 and I'm sure others would recommend audio technica ath-m50.

Last I checked optical is limited to 24/96, you're going to have to go with coax for 192khz.

active cancelling won't help with roomates, IEMs would be the best option. I've read etymotic have some of the best isolation. You might want to look into the mc5 or ek5.
