Absolute best budget earbuds?
I don't log into here as much anymore, but every time I lose/break my budget earbuds, I check in here to see what's new. Just wanted to check in to say thanks to the head-fi community in general for putting me onto the Monk Pluses. My fave right now; I rocked a lot of Senn MX500, and these are a...- stet

Shopping PSA: Taobao/Tmall's 11.11 sales
Just wanted to drop an FYI for everybody who shops on Taobao or Tmall: November 11 is the massive 11.11 sale day on those platforms. At the expense of sounding too press release-y, it is legitimately the world's single largest online shopping 'event'. Just about every vendor slashes prices. Most...- stet

Fake Yuin PK2?
I assume it's better to resurrect this relevant thread than to start a new one. Has anyone seen really faint printing on the PK2 before? I wouldn't think Yuins would be knocked off either, but I'm suspicious of the more grayish markings on the housing. Seems like every other pic of these...- stet

Samsung Galaxy S Sound Quality
A rooted SGS with Voodoo is great; after upgrading my phone, I kept it as a PMP. It's the only smartphone I haven't sold during an upgrade. It is quite flat, to my liking. I usually listen to it with Yuin PK3s or Senn HD25-IIs, no amp. Those combos are really crisp and clear, great...- stet

Samsung Galaxy S Thread
whoops, sorry for the response lag; I subscribed to the thread, but never got an email notification. I would go for the latest/last from 2012-03-09. I remember liking the difference from the 181 build, but can't recall how that compares to the CM7 stable. The one annoying thing that carried...- stet

Samsung Galaxy S Thread
Hey, I'm popping in here to say thanks, and hello again, after a several years away from head-fi. A few months ago I found this thread while searching something about smartphones and audio -- pretty psyched, as I have an i9000 international. Voodoo Sound and this DAC are amazing. I also...- stet

societal impact of New SAT?
more or less seriously, this brings to mind Vice Magazine's writing awards for NYC public school students. http://www.viceland.com/issues/v11n8...s/the_best.php (there's not one asian surname in there, but maybe the new sat is a direct attack on them too )- stet

Are porta pros under rated?
The portapros get a lot of respect here (try a search), but I'd agree that they're underrated (here) as compared to KSC-35s and KSC-75s. They are really bassy, more so than the clip versions becuase the drivers are pressed against your ears.- stet

No Longer a Meat Eater
pinkie's posting the Smiths lyrics got me thinking about songs that have pushed people toward vegetarianism ... If anybody else has one: http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=107342- stet

songs that made you become vegetarian
well, maybe it wasn't that compelling/drastic, but the one song that got me interested and made me investigate more was a punk/hardcore song "No More" from Youth of Today. It was the straight-edge variety of hardcore, and I was already wrapped up into that whole lifestyle and not using alcohol... -

ehh... Looking back, I'm sorry I reacted too strongly to that comment. I've been called dogeater before, and I get overly defensive when the topic even arises.- stet
