I actually ended up going with a Chromecast Audio; as I can pull down my FLACs from my NAS using BubbleUPNP on my phone and can also allow other people to easily connect to it to stream Spotify at parties etc.. I've heard some mixed reports about sound quality, but hopefully firmware updates...

  I've been looking at the Opals for a while; has anyone actually paired them with the Hugo yet? Would be interested to hear if they have good synergy   edit; not sure the Opals class as small speakers though - they weigh over 20kg!

Nice review; would be nice if Chord could also offer such flexibility on the outputs as the M8.. I've already emailed them asking if the RCAs could be replaced with balanced but it doesn't look like it's in their plans right now :(

Any more news on a release date for this? You mention that Asus has a quick release cycle but I'm unsure if that implies that we'll be waiting a matter of weeks for this card or Christmas! I'm hoping that since its mainly an adaptation of the STX that it'll be the former but am concerned that...

Apologise for the slight hijack but I could do with some help: I'm looking at getting this card, but noticed that it doesn't support DTS encoding (though it does have DD).. I have some DVDs with a DTS soundtrack already - so does that mean that the card won't be able to pass the DTS at all...

Apogee Mini-DAC is another option.. has everything you listed and in fact I'm doing the exact thing as you, except I'm using the DAC's XLR outs to my monitors rather than going through the sub.

I had some 24bit 96khz Tool vinyl recordings that I tried to convert from FLAC into ALAC using dbpoweramp and it didn't like it :/

Anyone had probs with the shuffle function? I used to just have my whole library on shuffle in v7, when I upgraded to v8, it just shuffles the song in that album.. I've tried changing all of the shuffle options in controls -> shuffle but it doesn't seem to matter. I'm currently working around...
