You might want to look into the Meier Corda Opera. I haven't heard it with the hd600, however I know that Jan Meier fine tunes his amps using the hd650. I've been very happy with mine, the quality is excellent, and Jan's service is fantastic as well.

To me the DX1000 is in the same class as the GS1000, however they don't really sound that much alike, so that doesn't really solve your problem. I haven't heard the E9, but from how they've been described, I'd very much doubt they sound the same as the GS1000.

b0dhi: No doubt the GS1000 have a decent amount of mid bass, but the bass isn't very deep, so I still found the bass amount and enjoyability of the dt990 better. Oh, and it's the 05 version, 600 ohm.

I've owned both dt770-80 and dt990-600 (still have dt990). I gotta say after getting the dt990 I didn't use the dt770 at all. The 990 are in a different class if you ask me, dt770 sound low fi and muddy when directly compared to the dt990. Mind you I was happy with my dt770 for a long time...
