Current status: Roughly 5 months on head-fi and I've bought:

dt770-80 (sold)
LD MKIII
Emu 0404 USB
manufaktur dt990-600
Stax Lambda Pro + SRD-7/SB (sold)
Meier Corda Opera
JVC DX1000

And I also bought a pair of minipod speakers + power amp recently (not directly because of head-fi, but still related to audio)

Money spent (minus the stuff I sold): Roughly $5500. Dear god it hurts to see that in writing.

The upside being that I'm pretty sure I've found the headphone for me (DX1000) and it would be extremely hard to upgrade from here. And I might still sell some of my older stuff.

I start on May with HD212pro aka the fart canon cans with iPod Nano.

Now, I just sold HD650, HD555, and HD25-1 II, and still keep ATH-W5000, W100, Corda Opera and EMU1616M as the home rig. 80Gb iPod Classic with ESW9 and M50 for the portable use.

and W3000 will be shipped to me soon.

sorry about my wallet...

Thanks for all the comments!

I'm really interested in the HD650s as well as the meir opera. What are your thoughts?

Lastly, I've made the mistake before of upgrading piecemeal and found that in terms of monetary outlay one is better just dropping the dinero upfront. So I decided to spend as much as I could reasonably afford and just get it done.

I'll post some pics shortly of my overall setup.

I think you will all find it interesting ...

i take it you're an aussie? (gathering from hilltop hoods)

interesting that there's another heed canamp in australia

don't know what the count is now... last time i checked it was less than a handful

the K701/Canamp combo really is great.

as for the DAC it depends on what sound you're looking for

also what kind of sound card are you using on your PC?

Actually, I live in the states and I'm a student as well.

Hilltop Hoods have been in heavy rotation lately since I'm a big fan of both symphonics and hip hop. I also like to thrash from time to time - always trying to stay away from the slow stuff.

Currently have a SB XFi Platinum and looking into the E-MUs. Does that help the DAC recommendation?
