    SonicStage 3.0 available

My HD1 worked fine also. It might have something to do with device registration. If your device wasn't "registered", you might have a problem.

    Sony NW-HD3 (full review)

You've got it now, topsy. I think in most cases, Track Shuffle is what you want. I don't think I would ever use Unit Shuffle. Once you get the hang of it, the shuffle mode is one of the most powerful differences between the NW-HD 1/2/3 and other HDD players.

Which is the BEST 20gb MP3 player?

Sorry to hear about the sonicstage problems: I know some people have had real problems like that. Have you looked for help on the www.minidisc.org discussion forums? Many SS problems are described there from MD users and there could be some hope. Perhaps if you wait for the new version 3.0...

ER-4s through the ipod's headphone jack?

If you live in the US and can order them from www.headphone.com they have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee that allows you to audition the ER-4S. I bought my Ety's from them years ago, then ordered the 4P's from them but could easily return them when I found I didn't like the sound as much. I...

    iPod mini to Sony HD1

I find the volume similar to the MD units I have used. Regarding new units: Sony has been releasing many new products lately. Considering the fact that the HD3 is really just a minor, somewhat cost reduced iteration of the HD1, I would not be surprised to see something new pretty soon. The 30...

ER-4s through the ipod's headphone jack?

I use ER4S with various portable devices, realizing what I am losing but finding it OK anyway. If I care, I plug in my MaxAirhead amp. I tried the 4P's when they first came out and didn't like the loss of detail compared to the 4S. It surprised me since I didn't expect to be able to notice, but...

    Sony NW-HD3 (full review)

Zuerst, the songs I downloaded from connect are in Atrac3 132. I think this is to ensure the broadest compatibility (such as Net MD). It is a good compromise and I suspect as good as itunes downloads. I got 100 free from using 10000 miles from my United Milage Plus (I fly a lot so I won't...

    iPod mini to Sony HD1

I also migrated from MD to the NW-HD1. I think the sound character is very similar. If you liked MD, you should like the HD1. You already know the limits of SS, but it is getting better all the time. SS 3.0 is coming out in the next month or so, maybe less as the Japanese version is shipping in...

"VAIO Music Transfer" works with NW-HD3

I tried this with my NW-HD1. This unit does not have the mp3 firmware upgrade yet. It converted everything to the preferred format I had set in SS (ATRAC 132) and sent it over. Very cool. Then, when I next had SS open, I could transfer the files from the HD1 to SS. This very nice for quick...

Sony dumping NW-HD1's and 2's in Tokyo

It should. The only issue might be the supplied software, which you can download anyway and the voltage of the charger. I don't know if they supply a multi voltage charger, but you can buy one there anyway. If you want to get the MP3 firmware upgrade, you would have to do that in Japan as I have...

    Dissection of a NW-HD3

cykalan, you're a champ for doing this. I have an HD1 and was curious, but not curious enough! The accelerometer chip is cool. I'm a little surprised that g-shock sensor isn't just some marketing gag rather than real tech!

Which is the BEST 20gb MP3 player?

I'm delighted with the Sony NW-HD1 I got last summer. It is tiny for a 20 gig player and sounds great. The battery life is so good, I don't bother taking a charger unless I am travelling more than a week or two.

Sony dumping NW-HD1's and 2's in Tokyo

At BIC camera today in Shibuya (Tokyo, Japan), they were dumping inventory of Sony NW-HD1's and NW-HD2's for 22,000 yen. Not a bad deal, 20 gig, 30 hr HDD player for about 200 US.

    Sony NW-HD3 (full review)

ThinLizzy, To move your music from one PC to another, you need to use the SS Backup program. Backup your database, then restore it to the new PC. The database can reside on both if you want after you do this. The HD3 can transfer files from up to 3 different PC's as long as they are all...
