At BIC camera today in Shibuya (Tokyo, Japan), they were dumping inventory of Sony NW-HD1's and NW-HD2's for 22,000 yen. Not a bad deal, 20 gig, 30 hr HDD player for about 200 US.

It should. The only issue might be the supplied software, which you can download anyway and the voltage of the charger. I don't know if they supply a multi voltage charger, but you can buy one there anyway. If you want to get the MP3 firmware upgrade, you would have to do that in Japan as I have heard the upgrades are region specific.

Nuts... I just got an iPod photo 60 gig. If I knew they were that cheap, I would have held off.

I paid more the double that for my NW-HD1; even then I still didn't care too much, I love that small metal case, SQ and long batterylife.
