One more thing on my custom tips: Looking at the size of the bit that fills the ear-canal I understand why none of the regular tips worked for me. They are either simply too small and even the largest ones are being pressed into this asymentrical shape (narrow but high) which is probably causing...- Janni

Hi, actually the custom tips are much harder (though some flexibility of the body remains). They are made of some sort of silicone, but due to the thickness of the body it is obviously stiffer than the thin surfaces of the regular tips. Once you inserted them they sit flush and you feel them...- Janni

Westone 3 Impressions Thread
After a long break I am back to post on this thread. In the meantime I have moved house (always a pretty intense experience) and more importantly have had custom tips done for my W3s. The result is even better than hoped for: fantastic isolation, super-comfortable fit (no pressure, cool feel...- Janni

I think you described it very accurately Jogiya. They really do take a lot of experimentation. The upside to this is that the reward is huge once you get it right. I have settled on tri-flanges modded to be bi-flanges. Unfortunately the medium Shure Olives that were the best standard tips for...- Janni

Do you mean microphonics of the W3? If so: close to none I would say! the W3 cables are so fantastically thin, light and soft that it does not create this annoying sounds that I was used to with my E4Cs or SE530ies.- Janni

contact enhancement treatments
Just to add my experience having used Walker SST, DeoxIt and some others over the years. In short I do recommend DeoxIt but cannot testify to having heard any improvement in sound. But it makes me feel better that all is clean and shiny Walker Audio SST and all the other magic fluids are to...- Janni

Hornet M - charging time?

If I buy Westone 3s for use with my iPod, will I need an amp?
I am listening to the W3 via a Hornet M and made many checks over the last two weeks comparing the sound amped to directly out of iPod 160gb. My experience is that it IS better with the amp - more life, more energy, more enjoyment. However, that is most apparent with good quality recordings with...- Janni

Hornet M - charging time?
Hi all, I have now switched back to using rechargeable 9V batteries with my Hornet as I was just using up far too many regular blocks. Anybody knows though how long I need to have the charger plugged in to have them charged fully? Kind of important as the Hornet does not run for very...- Janni

REVIEW: WESTONE 3, the ULTIMATE UNIVERSAL IEM vs everything else
hm, that is creative thinking... but I would even need to cut away parts to make the stem go in deep enough. Probably I would just ruin the thing and have none left. I reckon I will not start tinkering with it if it cannot be reversed. A question on the Westone 'custom' tips (UM96?) Looking...- Janni
