I use these phones with the MAD Ear+ & XP-7. I personally prefer the MAD/K601 combo (bigger soundstage/more open with a touch more bass), although it's probably not really a fair amp comparison. FWIW, the Hornet does a bloody good job with the K601 too.

I have both the XP7 & Hornet. To my ears, with a decent source & phones, the XP7 is in a class above the Hornet. Eats batteries though so I'd invest in 2 sets of high capacity 9V rechargeables. The dedicated PSU looks nice but is pricey. Congratulations on an excellent first amp...

A compact and solidly built amp with a lovely clean sound. It has a small foot print and sits comfortably on my bedside table with a Sony D33 perched on top. Gets through batteries quickly so I'd advise buying it with the PSU if you plan on listening to it for extended periods. Not really...
