That's all? I thought there's a specific reason why people are hiding the full name, otherwise it's just as easy to write, say, "3815" as it is to write "38xx".

I could be wrong.. someone else will need to chime in to confirm. That was just my theory. Half of it could be for security reasons too? Idk

some people like to be more anon i suppose. I have a late model, but I may be interested in trying an early model. Though getting the my sphere is probably smarter. I paid $1600 plus shipping, though I think $1500 is probably a better number, as of last summer. Then again, I've seen 2k on up to like 4k for a black box version, which struck me as ridiculous, but oh well.

You obviously haven't heard an early black box set compard to a later light brown box set.
A friend said it was like you could only hear half the music from the later bass light version.  He was correct.

How do I know? I still have them both....      The bass light don't have much bass, but the midrange is marvellous.......

They both cost me the about the same when I got them about 10 years ago.
If you like more bass, then yes.
If you like pure mids, then no.

Pick your poison.

Hello, Numbers above 5000 means - if there occur no R&B, that the sound is very bright, clean and good for most classic recordings.
Nothing for "bass heads" of course as any K1000.
Very good sound stage.
I suggest to test it first before buying, as often rub and buzz caused by not well made design change for membrane gluing process happen. But if it's fine today, you will not have problem in future too.
Good luck!

Hi Heinz,
how nice, a reply from Mr. K1000 himself. Ever since I got to listen to your bass heavy prototype at the meet in Vienna, I'm kind of looking for an excuse to get one of these extravagant headphones. Thanks for your insight!

Is there any easy way to fix the glue issue on my k1000? The buzzing/rattling comes and goes, and it's not a big problem, but I don't dare open k1000 since I am not at all a professional.

sorry what exactly do you mean by "no R&B"?

Excuse this simple short expression please.
R&B means Rubb and Buzz...
Also defined as Monate harmonic destortion.

OK Buzz I understand

(luckilly my 7### model (black boxed) has not shown such a behaviour)

Monate harmonic distortion?
does is have to do with a monthly behaviour maybe?

Hello Heinz
You say that your K-1000 serial number is in the 7000's range. Black box (bass heavy) models had serial numbers in the 5000's and lower.
Glad to hear thatyouare not having any issues with your K-1000. (I'm currently listening to mine as I write this)
Best - Bryan
