I like Rudolf Serkin in the late Beethoven sonatas.

Live performance of no. 30 from 1954:

This is a really great performance. Thanks for sharing. I've recently been enjoying this old recording by Feinberg of the same sonata:

I suppose I have different favourite interpretations of the various sonatas. For 110 I really like both Richter and Gilels; for 111, Arrau and Sokolov (though more so in the bootlegs than in the old Melodiya). And Schnabel, of course.

Could not resist the curiosity about the Froberger edition By Brilliant classics just because it has 5 more discs tan the Aeolus one. So far, it sounds good, more intimate tan the Aeolus one. I will still keep the Aelus because the fine recording quality (this while good it doesn't reach the level of aelus)

Thanks, I became familiar with Serkin's Beethoven from this recording, worth investigating:

I enjoyed the Feinberg, cheers. He has a singing quality in his playing.

My favorite Scarlatti on guitar disc. Superb playing, use of colors and dynamics--words fail. All that plus fantastic sound. A pity it's out of print.

He sure does! Volodos brings out the dreamy/autumnal qualities more than any pianist I've heard. His gorgeous playing is captured in stunning sound, and each piece is a complete take--no edits!

He's probably got the finest technique out of all the pianists that are alive at the moment, and he seems to play impeccably live as well, although the firs time I saw him, the same philistine's phone rang three times forcing him to stop playing. I don't know how he produces the lush tone that he does. What's even more impressive is that he only studied the piano seriously aged 16....
