On http://www.sensaphonics.com/soft2x.html It says that: "Benefits of the new soft silicone dual driver in-ear monitor over traditional plastic in-ears.........Maintains perfect seal to prevent bleed-ins during excessive jaw movement" I have never seen any mention of Sensaphonics requiring...- penbat

Looks like Ipod will be available soon as 30GB & 60GB only.
See: Toshiba drives The 30GB will be the same size as the existing 20GB and 60GB the same size as the existing 40GB. The Toshiba 30GB and 60GB will be made widely available in Q4. So I anticipate that by Jan 2005 the Ipod will be only available in 30GB and 60GB versions probably the same...- penbat

UE-10/Ipod/Superdual combination
I am over halfway through burning in my Superdual and i am still getting a lot of brightness on the treble. It sounds rather artificial. The ampless UE-10 sounds much more natural. The Superdual has been commented on as being fab for Etys, not very good for Shure E5s. I guess if i got a Xin...- penbat

Crisis with Xintechs & Superdual ?
Superduals have not been available for sale in the last few days, see www.xintechs.com. Not even accessories are for sale. I would guess that a few hundred Superduals have already been sold but about half have been identified as requiring an unspecified free upgrade but we have been waiting...- penbat

Buying IEMs using Handheld Audio (sole UK distributor)
Handheld Audio are the sole official distributors for both UE and Sensaphonics in the UK. Their website is http://www.handheldaudio.co.uk/. They are around 120 miles away from me. I have found a list of their prices at http://tinyurl.com/ywdd4 and they are really expensive and they don't even...- penbat

First UE-10 impressions
Its early days yet, just working through UE-10 and Superdual burn in but it is quite a shock to the system listening to UE-10s after listening to E5s for the last 9 months. The bass is far less prominent. It is so subtle i'm even wondering if my bass drivers are even working. I may well get used...- penbat

UE-10 & IPod - lineout or not ?
The IPod lineout is widely considered to give better sound than the Ipod earphone socket. But if you use lineout you are bypassing the Ipod's volume control so you need an amp simply to provide that function. Maybe an amp such as the Superdual may benefit the sound as well but that is fairly...- penbat

Xin Superdual upgrade
If you ordered the Superdual very early, it may be that you got one which was found to be defficient in some way, presumably affecting the sound quality. XIntechs have been shipping the upgraded SD for a while now. But i think they will be asking all purchasers to give their serial numbers in...- penbat

UE impression questions
1/ My audiologist i think did a good job and only charged me £20 but she did say that the impressions will shrink over time. Maybe she wasn't using the proper recommended UE impression mix, I am not sure. Would you expect all impressions to shrink over time ? I am a little concerned that if i...- penbat

UE-5C/UE-10 Open-mouth impressions - why ?
When i asked my audiologist for a set of open-mouth impressions she was comfortable with that idea but automatically asumed i would have a set of closed-mouth impressions to go with them. Yes i can understand that with open mouth impressions the seal is likely to remain intact if i yawned...- penbat

Isolation issues on E5, UE-5C, UE-10 & UE-Hybrid
I have no problem walking around the streets with my E5s and tri-flanges. But i am concerned that i would not be able to do this with UE-5Cs. I got this email from Mindy Harvey: "Both the UE-5c and the UE-10 pro are going to offer 26db of isolation, which would be the equivalent of walking...- penbat

Attention all UK Superdual purchasers
The standard 110V AC adapter/charger is not supplied on international orders such as the UK. It is not of critical importance as you can take the rechargeable battery out of the SD and use a standard 9V recharger, or you can connect the SD to an external battery. However, apparently it should...- penbat

Any viable way to improve E5 treble with Ipod ?
I think using the Ipod EQ is ruled out, the Treble Boost IPod EQ option, for example, over does the treble. Some amps have bass boost. It would be nice if an amp had a subtle treble boost but i can't think of any. Any other ideas ?- penbat

I got a Xin amp mailed to me from the US to UK. In the amp there was an Energiser 9V NH22N rechargeable battery.
