Crisis with Xintechs & Superdual ?

Superduals have not been available for sale in the last few days, see www.xintechs.com. Not even accessories are for sale.

I would guess that a few hundred Superduals have already been sold but about half have been identified as requiring an unspecified free upgrade but we have been waiting quite a long time for how this is to be done.

My own Superdual has died anyway probably cos i put the AC/DC cable plug in the earphone socket which must be a major design flaw cos it is an easy mistake to make.

I am wondering if Xintechs has realised that all Superduals that have been sold so far need to be replaced but i suspect the finances and practicalities are very big. I am even wondering if Xintechs is still alive and solvent.

The Superdual is intrinsically an excellent product.

Well it would appear that Xin has stopped shipping/selling the SuperDual due to many problems that have arose with this amp. I am sorry to hear that your SD is no longe working.

As for the upgrade process and what it might do to Xin Tech., that is a very good question. How many people would actually take advantage of this upgrade remains to be seen. And I agree that it is very confusing regarding the way that the SD is labeled.

Xin is a nice guy and has always responded to my emails quickly and politely.

For anyone with the above mentioned problems, I would just shoot him an email and find out what is needed (e.g. if you need to send your SD back).

I sure hope there is no major crisis at Xintechs.. Xin is a wonderful person (a very talented and hard worker) and I hope the SuperDual would come out sooner in a much better form, and I wish Xintechs good luck..

At this point though, I want a Super Mini or a Super Micro more than the SuperDual..

Actually quite a few of us have traded emails with Xin Tech. and received what appears to be a form letter (email). It stated that they are working on a solution to the problem and will notify us when a solution is found. So as penbat mentioned, we are waiting for a response.

As I mentioned I am sure that is why they have stopped the shipment of SDs. I hope it works out for Xin Tech. as well. They have a great little product that really fits in the marketplace. Pound for pound (price and performance) you can't beat the SuperDual.

I have emailed several people at Xintechs. They responded a few days ago to say they understand my problem but still waiting for a resolution. Also the Xintechs site is unfinished. For example, not only was no SD manual ready to ship with the Superdual but no PDF of the SD manual has been made available on the Xintechs website.

I guess they outsourced the SD's production, which sometimes is difficult to control. At this point, when the products are piling up for upgrade, the best thing for them, IMHO, is to stop shipping and fix the flaws in both the product and service. Though SD's a cool product, for such a non-DIY, any flaws will destroy the brand itself. The game of mass-production is totally different from a DIY one. I am also on the list for upgrade.

Sorting these problems out is obviously a good thing in the long run but i would guess it is causing major cash flow problems right now.

That's part of the risk any start-up will face. For the upgrade, I think it's not that difficult coz they have it done in some finished products. What's tricky is the design itself, i.e, the similar looking headphone port and the AC/DC port. Obviously, the SD should have a really good user guide to make it sound in the market and avoid potential risk.

And as I said earlier, if you can't look down at the symbols on the casing and tell the difference, then something is wrong with your eyes.

Anyone know exactly what the issue is? My SD has been chugging along fine.
