Franz Ferdinand - New CD!
So, I just did my first listen-through. I must say I enjoyed the entire thing. A few of the first songs were probably my favorites but overall a good experience. I'm gonna have to listen to it again before I make more specific comments, but anyone else feel like sharing?- deadlierchair

Help me find the right CD Player!
Up to this point I have been pretty certain about what I was going to purchase as my CD Player - a used NAD c541. Now I've found out my budget has increased as an option if it will help me in the long run. Right now I have... Alessandro MS-1 PIMETA Amp With the possibility of adding...- deadlierchair

What to use for wire in amp?
I'm about to order parts for a PIMETA but I would like to make sure I'm doing this right. For my CMOY's internal wiring (from board to switches etc.) I just salvaged old computer wire like they use for LEDs on front panels and it worked out okay. However, I don't have much left and if it's...- deadlierchair

Air Travel Security w/ DIY Amps
I expect that a few of us will be travelling on airplanes and going through security in the weeks to come for spring break related activities. I am wondering what the security people think of DIY-looking amplifiers like mint-container amps (Mint, CMoy, those types). I have heard that...- deadlierchair

Amping the Karma
So I've had my Rio Karma for a little while and I love it so far. The problem is that the line out is really really loud. If I plug my headphones into it it blows my ears out. If I plug that into my CMoy to amplify like I expected to do it gets way louder. Is this a case in which I want negative...- deadlierchair

Amp Batteries - How low is too low?
My question specifically pertains to the CMoy but could apply to any portable amp I guess. The question is, how low should measured voltage get before you stop using that battery in your amp? I've been using a 9 volt battery in my CMoy for about 2 months and now it's reading at about 7.9 volts...- deadlierchair

Amp for Low Z Phones?
I recently built a CMoy and have done some tweaking with resistors and gain but I still don't really like how it sounds. Granted, it has made things TONS better than just my plain CD player powering my headphones (currently MS-1's), but I am not yet satisfied. Also, I have the building bug and...- deadlierchair

Getting into Hi-Fi - Want a new source
Over the years this time has been building since I first bought a CD stereo and now I'm ready to dedicate more time and money to music. Right now I am faced with the roadblock that I do not have a source that I really like listening to at home. Lately I have been listening to my Sony D-EJ611...- deadlierchair

First Build - CMoy Help (800 KB pics)
Hey everyone, This is my first build ever, so I'm really hoping I have just made some stupid mistake that's obvious I've built the CMoy amp exactly to specification as listed on the Tangent web site. I am currently using two 9 V batteries for power wired in series (I think...it gives me...- deadlierchair

Nforce2 Audio -> Headphones Problems
If I plug my speakers into my onboard ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Soundcard I get really good sound that is nice and pure but as soon as I switch over to my crappy $20 headphones or my Shure E2C's I get static and the line clicks every couple seconds. I have downloaded the latest Drivers and BIOS and I am...- deadlierchair

Flaky Headphone Connection
I have a semi-nice pair of full ear headphones but in the past few months the connection between the headphones and whatever output source has degraded a lot. It it to the point where I have to hold the cord to the connector at a certain angle to get the full range of sound. Is there any way...- deadlierchair
