Hey everyone,

This is my first build ever, so I'm really hoping I have just made some stupid mistake that's obvious
cool.gif

I've built the CMoy amp exactly to specification as listed on the Tangent web site. I am currently using two 9 V batteries for power wired in series (I think...it gives me a little less than 18 V when I test it on my meter). I am using the OPA2132PA op-amp. I have tested my 3.5 mm connectors many times and those are finally wired up correctly. Also, when I connect my power supply as shown below I get readings of 3 V on the negative side and 15 V on the positive side, is this normal? I get a clean 9/9 coming straight out of the power supply but when the circuit is active I get 15/3

Also...my problem is that I don't get a clear signal out of it. When I turn my CD player up all the way I can hear a little bit when there are highs in the music (ie a drum hit, loud guitar). I can definitely hear some electronic sound through the headphones so I think the amp is partially working. I was using iPod earbuds to test and my Sony D-EJ611 CD player as the output. I can hear when I go straight between the two but the amp is no luck so far.

Hopefully these pictures will help...

No pics here either.

Did you use resistors to split the power or the TLE? If the TLE it may be defective. My real guess at your problem though is that you may have wired your capacitors incorrectly. Double check that you have the polarity correct on them. The negative side should point to ground for both channels.

Sorry, I will change hosts, then you should be able to see them. The polarity is fine on those two capacitors and wired just like in the .pdf at the tangent web site. I even tested it when I was done just like it told me to

I don't think the power supply is the problem (the power supply portion) because it tests out like it should. I hooked all the wires exactly like on the web site, I'm not sure what happened.

And I'm not sure what a TLE is so I'm not sure if that's the problem or not.

Check your solder joints I had some problems as well, and as a fellow newbie, I can tell you that you have to check your solder joints if things are not working, but everything matches the diagrams that you have. I had some bridges where there should not have been. Hope you can get your amp working.

No, we're using the INTERNET. It's pretty much universal from what I understand.

If you can't post those pics on a host that allows hotlinking, then just post the URL's of the files, and we can open them in a seperate browser. Like this......

Copy links to a new browser window, works fine.

Seriously, try different browsers. Try clicking away from and on the pictures. They're a form of gif animation which may not be uniformly supported; gifs have a checkered legal history. You see "Nein" interspersed momentarily with some guy holding a remote.

I wish that the internet were more of a standard. Microsoft does what it can to inhibit standards other than the ones that allow use of their products, with standards they'd be in a commodity market. Usually us Mac users get the short end of the stick, banks icing us out, etc. Here, all images have worked fine every time I've checked.

(By the way, Eagle has been released for Mac OS X. Craving circuit software has been the first cause in 20 years to make me wish I had a PC.)

They have always worked for me, but I have updated the pics anyway to ImageShack.

Pics showed up fine for me yesterday afternoon, then didn't show up in the late evening. They look fine now.
