A solution to free-moving Grado driver chamber!

afaik, a friend tried his hardest to buy just the leather headband for the grados and they absolutely would not. I think he eventually bought them from someone else who had a broken pair or whatnot.

    Swan M200's or Audioengine A5's?

By the same reasoning you might be inclined to think that the audioengines offer less soundwise and charge a premium for "ipod" connectivity. Tough choice indeed.

    Swan M200's or Audioengine A5's?

You're only going to hear praise about either system. Can you buy both and return the one you don't like? Listening to both in person is the only proper way to compare both in terms of sound. You can judge the features and appearance online.

Need help with some old Wharfedales

There's not much you can do easily to fix the problem. This could be a problem that's been present since the speaker was manufactured. Is the volume in the bad driver just low or is it distorting as well? Try emailing wharfedale and seeing if you can get a replacement or at least specs on the...

Question on magnetic field effects from speakers/subs on electronics

Your speaker has a persistent magnetic field from the permanent magnet regardless of whether it's on or off. It's the nature of the material. When you turn the speaker on, the speaker's voice coil becomes an electromagnet. With two magnets near each other, one of them is going to feel...

Need help with some old Wharfedales

Oh now I see the pictures. They weren't showing up before. If you can check for continuity across parts of the crossover then that might be a start. If you can swap drivers from the other speaker, see if the problem follows the driver. Then you can isolate the problem to either the driver...

Need help with some old Wharfedales

Did you actually see a place that a knob would've been? The most common problem with large speakers being shipped are crossover components breaking loose. It's quite possible that a heavy inductor (or inductors) was glued on its side to make it off axis from other inductors. The glue might be...

    Orb speakers?

If you're looking for a small speaker, they'll probably sound better than Bose. But you can't break the laws of physics so if you want better sound you'll probably want to go with larger speakers.

New HD650, I just can't get the cable out...

I held the connector between my fingers, grasped the bottom of the headphone, and then pulled really hard. When it came out my arm flew back but yeah, it's a tough connector to get out. It's better than being too lose and coming out with the slightest disturbance. That you can't fix easily.

New HD650, I just can't get the cable out...

It should come straight out with enough pull. Try not to bend or twist the connector on the way out and you should be fine. I know mine was tough when I first took it off.

Upgraded cable for Z5500, need input.

What you're thinking about by adding such thick wire to your system is akin to adding racing slicks to a golf cart. If you can get it to fit (probably not impossible), it's not going to do you any good. You're limited by your golf cart's capability. Changing the source and then changing the wire...

Upgraded cable for Z5500, need input.

I think you're missing the point of what the wire is for. In any case, you're unlikely to hear an improvement with new wire using a better source. There's no reason it should.

Upgraded cable for Z5500, need input.

It's crap relative to what speaker it's used with. For the logitechs, it works well enough. Try and use that same wire on a $1000 HIFI system and yes, it will be complete crap. You can go ahead and change the wire if it's killing you, but you're not going to hear an improvment with those...

    Monster-branded 'stuff'

    Monster-branded 'stuff'

It's probably stuff being sold closer to what monster sells it to them for. When CompUSA was trying to liquidate their store inventories, monster brand cables were going for less than half price. If you ask me, that's what their full MSRP's should be at.

    Quick question.

People will say anything you add in between is just more of an opportunity to degrade your signal. So in theory, you might be losing some signal quality. But on the other hand, it's probably very very small if anything and you will probably not hear any difference at all.

Upgraded cable for Z5500, need input.

Both cables are majorly overkill for the logitech system so the difference between them in your situation is null. Any decent 16ga. wire might improve your system, but even that difference is debateable.
