European vs. N. American vs. Asian tastes
well with guitar amps there are british flavor and american flavor. same id imagine for non guitar amps. british = smoother and more midrangy. american = bigger, bolder, more treble, more bass.- nothing101

Stax 2050 (System II) or RS-2
yep. if stax is what you were floored by its hardly even worth the effort to consider grado. just get a stax system. they dont have terribly powerful bass but when you hear the rest of the sound you wont care.- nothing101

which music do you use to test headphones?
good to hear there are some other dreamtheater fans on headfi i tend to stay away from old recordings eg. cream, beatles, hendrix for testing out sound quality because the recordings dont really sound true to the music most of the time. they tend to sound muddy and lack bass as well as having...- nothing101

well i compared the denon d5000 through a valve amp to a stax 3030 system yesterday and gosh. the denon was balanced across the board and articulate detailed ect. but when you put on the stax you realise how plasticy and artificial the denons are. the stax are more airy, smooth, quick and...- nothing101

well im not necessarily looking for an upgrade. just something that will last longer than the er6i. usually more pricey ones with better warranties should. sound is obviously also very important. i can stretch pretty far but i want to spend as little as possible. i would be happy with the...- nothing101

Help me solve my IEM dilemma
tbh i dont think the etys lack bass too much. especially with foamies. they will probably sound the best. only problem is the cable seems to go dead after a year.- nothing101

the black er6i looks like it has a different plug to the white one. do any of you think there will be a difference in durability. if so, there might not be need to get a more expensive pair.- nothing101
