I got a set Magnepan Mini Maggies for a nice desktop setup.  Pretty happy with them thus far.

True the mini maggies approach the price of the 1.7s (I purchased a demo model with full warranty so I received a great price), but their intended application is completely different.  Whereas the 1.7s and even MMGs require a large room, i can sit these on my desk and have a good 1.5-2ft...

Here's my setup.  Source is a Twisted Pear Opus with transformer outputs.  Headamp is a balanced dynalo (dynamid) to Grado HF-2s.  Recently got a set of Mini Magnepans driven by an old Adcom amp and a diy tube pre.  Still playing around with placement and maybe some acoustic treatment.

Levis also has an upscale line, the Levis Vintage Clothing line, that has multiple STF jeans. Slim cuts that come to mind are 505 and 606 super slim from the LVC collection.

Bootcut hasn't been fashionable in a number of years, but if you must, there is always the Nudie RRDS and 5EP lowdown boot. Regular tapered, like most Japanese brands, is the way to go these days. Pretty much classic.

I've stepped away from the faulty Dynalo board for the last few days. Just for fun, hooked it up this morning, and everything works. No idea what was different this time, but certainly no complaints on my end. I've since paired it with another Dynalo to make a Dynamid.

Unfortunately, I have no access to a scope. I measured the current draw from each channel and it is around 65-70ma per channel.

A tube amp may not be best for a noob. Try building a simpler amp not having to deal with power supplies first.

Great thread guys. It's been a while since I've browsed, much less posted. A problem has developed with my Dynalo so I decided to snap some pics while it was naked. Not nearly as clean as some others or the legendary sijosae.
