WARNING- SPOILER: Six Feet Under - Best series ending ever.
Remember that movie Beethoven? I wept (for some reason) when the poor hound got dog-napped, but I could justify it, as I was seven. I haven't since cried (or been really moved) by any work of art since then, I don't believe, though I've ingested my fair share. I caught the show tonight, and...- Trounce

Can winamp sound like foobar2k or at least close?
I current have my sound card connected via coax to my receiver. This ASIO, I presume, bypasses the sound card completely and goes straight through to my receiver now, much like AC3 audio does? Because the volume button no longer works on Winamp... Can you explain a bit how this plugin works...- Trounce

Should I pick up a used Denon AVR-4800 receiver for $730USD?
Hi there, I walked into a very high-end electronics store today looking for a relatively cheap receiver to power a 5.1 system. Video components are not really important to me because this won't be used with a TV. The guy said that there was nothing good-but-cheap, but there were a few...- Trounce

Shure E3s incorrectly packaged? How many foam tips?
Well, here's my story. I did a bunch of research, and based on my music tastes, decided to try the E3s to see if canal phones are for me. Now, the best seal I can get is with the foamies, but here is the problem: on the box it says 6 pairs flex sleeves (S, M, L) and 3 pairs foam sleeves (S...- Trounce

10 most important albums in your life
Hmmm... interesting topic. Most important is not necessarily favourite but rather an album that represents best a fragment of time in my life. 1. King Crimson - Red I remember listening to this album in the dead quiet of night somewhere in England, waiting for the tube, and realizing that... -
to all you Canadians!
As well this is probably late, but I have to add my two cents, as I've enjoyed thoroughly living downtown Toronto this past year. I was in residence at U of T, at the corner of St. George and Bloor, right in the middle of the Annex and five minutes away from the ROM and Yorkville. Though I...- Trounce

So I have 15 Free iTunes Downloads...
Good job, now he's even more confused with the plethora of fantastic artists you listed. And while they are great, he has 15 songs to choose from; altogether, we have over 20 artists. I'd recommend at least 'The Rat' from The Walkmen's new LP and 'Anthems for a Seventeen Year Old Girl' from... -
I dreamed that I died, and I went on into the afterlife.
I can't tell if you are being facetious. What exactly do the planets and houses comments mean? I don't believe at all in astrology, so I'm ignorant there. Quote: Originally Posted by wallijonn Boy, we haven't had a good dream discussion in awhile. The fact that you were feverish...- Trounce

I dreamed that I died, and I went on into the afterlife.
I had the most vivid dream I've ever experienced last night. I died brutally, in a very odd way. Remember the game Lemmings, when one could merely press the "nuke" button and all the creatures would blow up in 5 seconds? I died that way. I was trying to rescue my brother who was being taken...- Trounce

Kill Bill Vol. 2 v. Vol. 1?
I think the first movie had more of a soundtrack, while the second while swayed more towards a traditional movie score, however adopted from other movies it was. There was far less stylized scenes based around the music like there were in the first one; the one I remember the best was the final... -
What to do about my abusive father?
Well, I have just sneaked my mother out of the house and taken her to a friend for the night. At least that is over. He went out this morning and came back just as we were about to leave, and wanted to talk to her. They've been living the same life every day for the past year or so, he wanting...- Trounce

What to do about my abusive father?
First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone for their helpful responses. I've read them through, though it's very late, and will do so again tomorrow and respond accordingly. The problem with moving out is that, as it stands, if my mother, brother and I leave, we have nowhere permanent...- Trounce

What to do about my abusive father?
Alright, I really have nowhere else to turn to, and I've been reading to forum for a long time and admire so many of its patrons. As well, because this is the internet and anonymity is unhindered, I figure I can shoot this question out in the air without fear of judgement or persecution. Now...- Trounce

New Modest Mouse Album
I didn't say it was a bad song, guys, but rather that it was pedantic... it takes a while to get to the point! The whole M&A album is great, wonderful, spectacular even, but I just don't think it's as cohesive as everyone says it is. When I'm talking about cohesiveness, Revolver comes to mind... -
The UK music scene
Ahh, you're forgetting many of the great Scottish bands right now: The Delgados Arab Strap Mogwai Isn't Badly Drawn Boy also from England? Electrelane, a cool all-female krautrock band, is located there too. What about Stereophonics, that's a British mainstay. Now, I agree... -
New Wilco album available for listening
Sapphire, I so agree with everything you said, though I think they are incredibly obvious even to the most casual listener. 'Spiders' could be an incredible song, if I didn't have to WAIT until the song started. How f-ing ridiculous is that? I've never been more tortured by good music in my... -
Underground?Selling Out?
That's not what I'm saying at all. It is their choice to accept an offer from a big label, by which they'd make much more money, and attempt to keep their original sound. If the label tells them that they must change their sound, of course it's their prerogative to accept or deny the... -
Underground?Selling Out?
ENOUGH! This is the most redundant topic I've ever heard. Good underground bands are those whose music hasn't reached a bigger audience YET! I'm sure it is way more intimate to play in a small club in front of 200 people than in a stadium for 20,000. But I'm sure they don't mind playing...
