I too love the Spinfits! With an upgraded cable I can sleep with the 8's in. Great because this household with its four St. Bernards and mothering Staffie start singing for their breakfast early!- Black Label

Limu Shirin: Only the black filter would yield a dark sound (to which my hearing is biased I must admit). As for "congested," you have a slight point. But this is negated and opened up markedly with an ALO or Ted Allan / HeadphoneLounge cable.- Black Label

Astell & Kern AK Jr, 70 or even 300 - yes or no? I'm auditioning the Jr and finding vocals, some instruments sound a little digital and echoey. I've also auditioned the Chord Mojo, perhaps the most worthy addition to any rig, but bloody nora its portability (or lack thereof) is a dealbreaker.- Black Label

Pleasure, Chief Stringer :) As I wasn't sure what sort of electronic music you''re in to (I assumed not EDM as you would've said haha) I only guessed. What a coincidence. :p The bass when listening to My New Leng is chuffing massive! Have a listen to FabricLive 80 (I think?) mixed by Monki and...- Black Label

^ Hi Chief Stringer, I personally can't compare the 8's to the Sennheiser HD25s, however my journey thus far has taken in stops at the Sennheiser IE8 and IE800. So I think I'm at least halfway qualified to assist, being well versed in the Sennheiser sound. You're looking at balanced armatures...- Black Label

I find the Shures do lose a bit at lower volumes, but perhaps going from a copper to silver litz might negate it ?- Black Label

HeadphoneLounge replied, this ain't one of their cables. Dang it. Edit: LOL the confusion didn't end there. It is a Ted Allan / HeadphoneLounge cable after all! Type 1 copper litz. Whoever replied to me originally musn't have known it was an older one. Winning!!- Black Label

High end (IEM) cable thread: impressions, pics, comparisons and reviews.
Edit: HeadphoneLounge has just replied to me stating this isn't one of their cables. Hi all, My brother bought this cable (pictured) for his W90s secondhand, says it's a HeadphoneLounge occ (silver?) litz type 2. He passed it on to me for use with my Shure SE846s as it veiled the sound of his...- Black Label

iPhone 7 Will Revolutionize Portable Audio for the First Time in a Decade
^ Yah, the only reason for an upgrade (sans incramental improvements in the camera) is a capacity boost, but I''m also weighing up the options of an AK70 or an iPad with 256MB capacity. So long as there':s no decrease in SQ. I need to take the iPhone 7's camera for a test drive before...- Black Label

iPhone 7 Will Revolutionize Portable Audio for the First Time in a Decade
Hi everyone, I''m new to the thread and thought I'd "chip" in (sorry couldn't resist) as I'm a fellow SE846 and iPhone owner. So, am I to understand (given what's been said on the previous page) 'the iPhone 7 dongle improves the 8's sound. I would have thought it would be the polar opposite. A...- Black Label

For me it's the way the album (song) ebbs and flows, with each peak and trough well measured. No passage overstays its welcome. And at its most sombre points it's almost tear-jerkingly so. There's enough sways in mood to keep me engaged at worst and enthralled at best. Granted finesse and...- Black Label

I'd be looking at your sources first. Though an iPhone + amp combo isn't exactly optimal, the amps I've taken for a spin alongside my 846s altered the sound presentation greatly, and for the most part highly unfavourably. Hey all, long time no see! Well how odd is this??
