Gotta show off the OFC cables ClieOS made for me with Rhodium plugs. One ER4P and one S cable. Great quality. Will do some critical listening to check them out when I get an opportunity.- Wildblue

If I were you, I'd just buy a pair of Etymotic HF-3's https://www.etymotic.com/consumer/headset-earphones/hf3.html I have a pair of HF-5's I use for stuff like you're talking about, when I'm not doing reference listening with my ER-4's. Apple controls work great. Sound is pretty good. And...- Wildblue

Yeah, I have the ER-4P, which has changed over the years in cable type and earpiece construction. What I'm saying is that I prefer the construction of my original ER-4P's that I got back in 2002, which had a rubberized, non-braided cable, with earpieces that were entirely red and blue. My...- Wildblue

Very interesting. When I sent my ER-4P's in for service a couple months ago, what they sent back was the all-black model, with braiding, and I'm in the USA. Personally, I very much would prefer my original ER-4P's I had 10 years ago, with the slightly rubberized cable, red and blue...- Wildblue

Nice! I'm having a hell of a time trying to get an adapter. I'm trying not to have to pay the full $50+ shipping or whatever Etymotic charges. Grrrr.... Twice now I thought I had good avenues lined up, but they've fallen through. When I first bought my ER-4P ten years ago, it didn't come...- Wildblue

Oppo PM-1: A New Planar Magnetic Headphone!
Very interesting. As an A/V/home theater buff, Oppo is very well known in our community. Fascinating that they're taking on this project. I will be watching to see how they turn out functionally. Oppo stuff generally turns out to be a good product, though.- Wildblue

Yeah, since I bought my Etys back in 2002/2003, it didn't come with an adapter back then. As Ety has replaced them twice over the years as they've broken, they've replaced the phones, but not everything that comes with them. So I didn't have an adapter.provided. Cool, actually, that you...- Wildblue

Etymotic ER-4PT reviews?
techmonstr, the Ety ER-4's are very well made, and do feel premium. The phones have a matte finish, although there is a bit of a sheen to the cord. They are very transparent, so 192/256kbps will sound okay if they're good recordings. 128k and poor recordings probably will have their...- Wildblue

Looks like I just missed a group buy on other filters. If the reds do help a tad with bass, I'd love to figure out where to buy them. Haven't found that info in the thread yet.- Wildblue

Thanks! Everything there, with the exception of the URC iPod dock on top, is from Parasound. They make their own "Zcube" half-rack for the Zcustom equipment. I think it's perfect for an office or other small area system. All my cabling is custom from Cat Cables, and I current...- Wildblue

Just got my Ray Samuels SR-71A amp and LOD cable today. Good improvement on the ER-4P's, I'd say. And my custom mold eartips just came in too. I'm sick, or I would have gone and picked them up today. So good things are about to happen for my Etys.- Wildblue

Quote: Yeah, "Guitars" was recommended by a guy that's a big Mike Oldfield fan. Supposedly, every sound on the album is made by a guitar, including the percussive beats. I think it's interesting. I have "Tubular Bells" on hi-rez audio, DVD-A I think. I used to be stationed at...- Wildblue

The Etymotics HF5 Thread
My primary headphones have been Etymotic ER-4P's for the last decade, and I've used ER-6i's as my backup/beater set for maybe 7 years. The ER-6i's finally gave up one channel, so I just replaced them with HF3's under Etymotic's special purchase program. I was originally going to go for the...- Wildblue

Ah, no Raptor for me. No room to kick back and listen to my Etys! Here's a pic of my work office rig I took today for another thread. Parasound zcustom equipment, with my integrated iPod. Speakers for when I don't care about noise for the neighbor offices, which is most of the time- Wildblue
