Well, I have a friend who plans to make some cash by selling his $299 Geek at $899.   Will the ~$1,000 RETAIL version be distinguishable from the initial test batches that people backed for $299? Packaging? Accessories? Markings? Etc...

  Why is it 10 ohms? Why do manufacturers still build DACs/sound cards with headphone output impedance that are more than 1 ohm when there are many articles/people (perhaps even Asus employees themselves) that are against it?   Are the articles professing the benefits of < 1 ohm headphone...

I wonder why they chose to have a Headphone Output Impedance of 12ohms? That and the price (compared to the Geek Pulse) is what's keeping me from pulling the trigger.

@Maxvla   The manual states that the DAC will go into "stand by" (SLEEP = ON) after 5 mins has elapsed without any signal input.   Assuming I've just returned from lunch and left everything on. The DAC would be in stand by. My computer is set to play an audible alert when I receive an email...

@Anyone with this DAC, please...   In PRE2 Mode.   When a headphone is not in use, are the RCA and XLR outputs both active? And does the volume dial control both the RCA and XLR outputs volume at the same time?   Intended usage: XLR outputs to Active Studio Monitors RCA outputs to Active...

I had similar issues with another DAC but perhaps it might help?   Device Manager>USB Controllers>USB Root Hub - Properties - Power management   Locate the USB Root Hub your DAC is connected to and [Uncheck] Allows The Computer To Turn Off This Device To Save Power
