:sunrise: Official 2015 SF Head-Fi Meet Impressions Thread
More than a huge thanks to the gracious exhibitors and head-fi community. Letting us experience the gear you enjoy so much made the event a blast. Hopefully, I won't repeat anything said thus far. Noble Audio Brannan was gracious enough to show his personal K10 Prestige. I would describe...- AmbientK

In a zombie apocalypse, which headphone would you take with you and which would make the most effective weapon?
Thriller reference? A CIEM would be better if a lot of running is involved. Imagine full sized headphones fall off, and not being able to go back.- AmbientK

Audeze LCD-X
Observing what have been released so far, it look like the $1k - $2k range is well covered. Wood housing is a signature that they've build their first two products on. Awaiting the option for the LCD-XC with glossy mahogany or macassar wood.- AmbientK

Sound Card Headphone Amplifier vs Standalone amp
Quote: Agreeing with the above. The move to something dedicated over the current sound card flagships would have diminishing returns. I've only seen one comparison made (citation needed): STX about quivalent to a Schiit Asgard.- AmbientK

Need Help Looking for a New Set of IEMs Under $200
The TF10 has an enjoyable signature that shouldn't be too hard to demo first. Fairly durable (6hr/day/2yrs) and only had to replace the stock cable once. As comfortable as any other universal. There's also that appreciation thread...- AmbientK

noise-isolating IEM for <$150
Etymotics comes to mind, but was never a fan of those flanges too. Have recommended that Klipsch to others, so that's a safe choice. The TF10's do isolate vacuum noise and still sound great.- AmbientK

Is Asus Xonar Essence STU a good soundcard for gaming?
If you can use a case that will allow the ST/X, that would be option one. Personally, the DSP modes (other than "Hi-Fi") were more gimmick then useful.- AmbientK

What sound siganture do you prefer, and why?
Closest option to "equally emphasized" would be neutral. Indoors preference would be neutral, while outdoor preference being v-shaped. World noise (70-80 decibels) doesn't play nice with mid range vocals or classical.- AmbientK

LCD-2 for portable use? Am I crazy?
If you're set on getting them, use them indoors. I'd recommend getting a complementary pair of IEMs for outdoor use. Modding them defeats the purpose of their signature and design (and will insight an angry mob). Won't deny the looks. Images courtesy of Justin- AmbientK

LCD-2 for portable use? Am I crazy?
Short answer: No, you won't hear much unless there is little ambient noise. Open nature of the headphones allows even slight ambient noises to drown out your music. You'll also get looked at funny, unless your avant-garde by nature. Source: Own them.- AmbientK
