Official Sony WF-1000XM3 Thread - Noise Cancelling True Wireless Earphones
Question! I am thinking about getting these earbuds. My main thing I'm looking to do with them is listen to music and audio books while I mow lawns and do other landscaping things (it's a side hustle - saving for a home!). Right now, I have a cheap pair of wired earbuds that I put in, and then I...- tanner116

That Decware and LCD-3, though. Such beauty, glory, and magnificence. Someone listen to it for me, alright? Or rather, do yourselves all a favor, and everyone listen to it.- tanner116

From M50 to HD700. What should I expect?
KG Jag is totally right about deminishing returns. That being said, you're moving from the M50 to Modi -> Valhalla -> HD700? I mean, the M50 is a good value headphone, but your mind will be sufficiently blown, I think. If not at first, let burn in happen and your ears become used to the new...- tanner116

Or the HE-400i. Or the HE-560. Hifiman makes some great cans. Getting them used is a good idea, too. But I'm a bit confused about your budget now; I was under the impression you wanted to spend $500 on the whole setup, not just the headphones.- tanner116

Do I really need an Amp for DT 770 250 Ohm with MBP?
iPhones are kinda nasty when it comes to finding compatible DACs. Or, that's been my experience. But the E12 should be a good amp; lots of people love it. If you want a little cheaper, people are also consistently happy with the CMOY ($69) or PA2v2 ($80?) (I had the PA2v2 with the 990 for a...- tanner116

First time buying headphones
If you want to try open, Grado SR60e or SR80e are killer for their prices ($79 and $99, respectively). People like the UE 6000 for bassier tastes. Can't go wrong with the Sony MDR-V6.- tanner116

The WA7 is a fantastic amp and should fill all your amping needs for a good long time. If you want that amp, I think it is a solid choice. If I were you, I'd shop online for a used WA7 and a used LCD/T1/HD700/800, and see what you can find that'll fit your budget.- tanner116

If you're going to spend a grand on headphones, you want to spend at least half as much on an amp. That's the general rule of thumb I've heard. The LCD-2 are gorgeous headphones (read: my absolute favorite headphones of all time), but they need good, clean power. The Modi/Magni is a great...- tanner116

Help buying my first headsets!
I don't know anything about the CAL!, but as a teenager that used Skullcandy before, I can tell you that they aren't too good, with the Aviator being the only exception. To me, the Aviator still isn't great, but it is good looking, and sounds decent. What kind of cans do you want? Open or...- tanner116

My current setup is: PS1 -> JDS Labs O2 -> DT990 250ohm. While I don't have experience with the T90 (though, what I wouldn't give for some time with them!), I can tell you that the O2 is a great amp at a great price. I would highly recommend it, especially if you want to be different from...- tanner116

Sub 130$ over ear headphone
I know people hype it and put it down, but the ATH-M50 are excellent all-around closed cans for the price. They're $135 for the original model on amazon, and a bit more for the "X" version. If you aren't set on the closed thing, Grado SR80e, hands down. The Shure SRH440 are a good choice in that...- tanner116

What kind of amp do you have? None of those are going to sound all too great without the right kind of power. Even the T1, despite how efficient it is. What is your budget? Amped right, any of those cans will blow your M100 out of the water, especially if you aren't into crazy bass.- tanner116

Do I really need an Amp for DT 770 250 Ohm with MBP?
Hey, there! I own the DT990 Pro 250ohm, so I think I can adequately answer your question. I'm a budget head-fier, but I know what sounds good to me. Out of a portable device, the sound of the Beyerdynamic has a few problems to me: 1. Not enough volume. I need to have my iPhone 4s at...- tanner116

Crap. Getting back on head-fi and all this audio talk has me wondering how much I can budget for future audio toys (Bigger amp? A secondary pair of cans?), and that's a bad thing because I'm currently staring a car bill in the face. Darn you all. I can not wait for this meet.- tanner116

I haven't been on head-fi in a while, but I can definitely see myself making this meet. I'll ask for the day off on Tuesday, and will let you know if I'm successful. I missed the last one, and would sure love to come out and see you all! If I do come, I'll bring just what I have: ...- tanner116
