The Watercooler -- Impressions, philosophical discussion and general banter. Index on first page. All welcome.
Guys. What dap would you say is closest to Chord Mojo 2 sound wise? I have a Fiio M11 Plus and I mostly use my Kr5. But after getting the Mojo 2, the M11 is gathering dust. Mojo 2 is so much better in every possible way. Love the punchy bass, the clarity and soundstage. And I love the DSP -...- Eide

Thanks! The Liquid Link Martini looks stellar, but unfortunately only available in 4.4 termination from MusicTeck. I need 3.5 for my Mojo 2. However I found a HongKong-site with 3.5 (https://www.mestudiobiz.com/en/products/liquid-links-martini) I'm a bit hesitant of buying expensive cables from...- Eide

I need some advice. I bought my Kr5 with a balanced (4.4mm) cable to use with my Fiio M11 Plus. A few months after I bought a Chord Mojo 2, and that was a stellar upgrade. The sound was much more engaging. I used an Audeze premium iem-cable. Sadly that cable wasn't constructed for over the ear...- Eide

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion
The Mojo 2 EQ doesn't "fix" the i4s on their own, but it's a nice supplement to the Audeze DSP filter in Roon. I mostly run Mojo 2 flat, but the crossfeed in Mojo 2 is very good. It's quite sublime and doesn't affect any frequencies as I can hear (sometimes you loose bass with crossfeed).- Eide

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion
I bought a Mojo 2 yesterday. My original Chord Hugo from 2016 has been dead for quite some time, and because of that my i4s has been gathering dust for too long. The i4s really needs power to shine. The last 6 months I´ve only listened to my FiR Audio Kr5 customs. They are quite good. Perhaps...- Eide

I've listened to Kr5s for a few days now. (DAP: FiiO M11 Plus LDT) And these are some thoughts in random order. I'm so glad I went the ciem route. The fit is perfect. After a few seconds the monitors almost disappear in my ears. The isolation is very good. On the train this morning I couldn't...- Eide

Look what the UPS guy had for me this morning! Impressive shipping time. This was mailed to me yesterday in Vancouver, WA, and 24 hours later it's on my table in Norway. The packaging is impressive. Very nice design and unboxing experience. And the Kr5s look even better than I had hoped for...- Eide

If you where referring to my previous post with photos of Kr5s, the wood is called "Dark Horse". I must say that the real photos look much better than the one on the iem designer.- Eide

Got a mail from Bogdan this morning with a few photos of these wonderful Kr5s!. And a shipping notice. So I'll have them later this week. Man, they look gorgeous! Kept them clean of logos, though it was a hard choice, because the logos are quite nice and maybe helpful in knowing which side is...- Eide

It's been two weeks since I placed my order and sent them 3D scans of the impressions. They haven't started building my Kr5s yet... but hopefully soon. (Just to give you an update on how long you can expect to wait.) They state a build time of 3 weeks on their web page.- Eide

I see what you mean. I guess it's wishful thinking to have a closed iem compete with an open planar headphone (it's more a headphone than iem really). Anyways,.. I'm really looking forward to have great sound on the go as well. I've missed that...- Eide

A week since they started to build my Kr5 now, but the waiting time is unbearable. So I read your impressions over and over again... 😂 (Keep 'em coming!) What I'm most curious about is how Kr5 stack up against my Audeze LCDi4. I love my i4s, but they are not very practical outside my house or in...- Eide

I ordered Kr5 with the same design today. But without any logos or text. They are beautiful with the logos as well, but I wanted a clean design. Now for the long wait…. (Anyone know how long time they actually use? They state 2-4 weeks..)- Eide

Thanks for chiming in. 2pin it is then. I've had a few ciems and iems with 2pin connector before, and never had any issues. And I'm not going to be active with them. Maybe walking around a bit.- Eide

I'm about to order myself a pair of custom KR5s. (Yay!) BUT I'm not sure if I should choose the R2-Pin or RCX cable connection. I'm not familiar with RCX. I'm not going to be cable rolling a lot, but I might get something like the FiiO UTWS6 wireless bluetooth amplifier, and that connects only...- Eide

RAZ's TOTL review and rambles thread, on life support
This thread is a interesting read. I'm currently looking for a TOTL iem. Currently I've only got Audeze LCDi4 and they can only be used in quiet environments. I started looking at Noble Sultan - because I'v had Nobles before (Kaiser Encore). But after some research I ended up looking at Fir Kr5...- Eide

I've been using cipher cable for some months now, and my Hugo dac is gathering dust. The small difference in SQ is levelled out with the convenience of using my iPhone and Cipher. Love it!- Eide

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion
There was someone in this thread that had a solution to this ground problem. Something you could buy and hook up to one of the devices in the chain. But I can't find it again.. I´ve searched and looked. I´m kind of bothered by this issue as well, and would like a solution.- Eide

ACS Encore Studio New 5 Driver CIEM!
I just got an offer to rebuild my Encore to the new 5 driver Emotion. The price is 610$. Normal price is around 1100$ in Norway, so it´s a good price. Still, I'm a bit hesitant about spending 610$ on a new set of customs from ACS. My Encore has failed me twice... My options are either throw my...- Eide

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion
The buzzing sound happens regardless if the Hugo is charging or not. The buzzing effect is sometimes pretty strong and sometimes almost absent. I have only noticed this when using Hugo, not my Onkyo DP-X1 dap. It doesn´t seem harmful for the i4s though...- Eide

I also get the "buzzing" sound when touching the outer shell using my Hugo. If I touch the Hugo at the same time the buzzing stops. I also believe it´s some kind of current that is not grounded properly. The buzzing is loudest the first minute of plugging in the i4. It almost disappears after a...- Eide

Audeze DSP presets now available in Roon
Thank you for doing this. I´m listening to my LCD i4 with the new Roon preset, and it´s absolutely fantastic. I don´t know what woodo you have cooked up, but my LCDi4 has never sounded this good. More open. More natural. More spacious.- Eide

Audeze LCD i4 TOTL In-Ear Monitor Discussion
I´ve used Audezes convolution filter in Roon and loved it, but as you say, this new preset is even better and more refined. With the convolution filter I had to crank up the bass using EQ, but this preset is just perfect. A small "problem" is that I now feel I miss out listening to LCDi4 from...- Eide

Chord Electronics ☆ Poly ☆ (wireless & microSD module for Mojo) ☆★►USEFUL INFO on 1st PAGE!!◄★☆
My guess (or wish list) for adittional features: Poly can act as a DSP with parametric EQ, cross feed, and the ability of loading convolution filters. This is controlled by a Poly app that is similar to UAPP.- Eide
