What's with this TC thing? I don't think he'd enjoy the SRH-940 (they're quite bright). Not to mention they have build quality issues. I think he should get the K550. The 940 is probably better in terms of fidelity though, but too many problems.

I'll vote for the HD600. I really really hate the HD650's warm/dark/laid-back/veiled/muddy sound signature. But consider this, I have a friend who has both and he vastly prefers the HD650.

I have contacted Harman and bhphotovideo. When unboxing the Q701, the green seal was present and it showed no signs of being opened before. They look like they're brand new. I want to believe that it was the fault of the factory worker.  

I suspect it's the factory fault as the headphones were sealed. I'll contach bhphotovideo and see what they say, thanks.

Perhaps you heard that about the higher models. The SE215 sounds fine from most iDevices I tried them with. No hiss whatsoever.
