V6 and Beyer Pads: Sound difference?
I guess the comfort/isolation factor with the Sonys really depends on the listener, because my V6's with stock pleather pads are circum-aural on me, unlike you NeilPeart ... I may have smaller ears than most.- Ptrick

Why is animee music so good?!
Quote: Originally posted by rsaavedr Spirited Away, and Princess Mononoke both have excellent soundtracks. I absolutely agree!! Also check out the soundtrack for Laputa, one of the first Ghibli films that Hisaishi composed for (if I remember correctly, I may be wrong) The title song... -
Favorite Single Line of Lyrics
Oh, and one more gem from Mr. Wayne Coyne: "You realise that life goes fast/ It's hard to make the good things last/ You realise the sun dun go down/ It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round" From Do You Realise? -
QOTSA falling apart
Wow, Nick Oliveri leaving the group on bad terms with Homme? That's certainly surprising and sad news, to me at least. I hope it turns out to be a temporary thing, since the dynamic between the two can really be heard on all QOTSA albums, and Oliveri's basslines are always awesome. -
grado sr-60 vs. sony v6?
Hi refault, I'll try to lend some of my personal experience since I own both cans and have used both extensively in portable situations (ie. walking around city with busy streets, trains, buses.. as well as in uni classes, libraries). I'll list them in basic catergories that I consider...- Ptrick

Crowded House
Hi Old Pa, Make sure to check out Split Endz, which is basically the group before they became Crowded House. Neil Finn is a fantastic songwriter and they have a great fanbase in Australia and NZ. He's released a couple of solo albums after Crowded House broke up, and if I remember correctly... -
D777 BASS BOOST
Interesting!! I presume "DBB" stands for "Double Bass Boost"? Or perhaps "Digital Bass Boost" (more likely). I might be wrong, since I'm just guessing, but could it be the same as MegaBass (MB having two settings that are displayed on my D777's remote: one bar Bass and two bar Bass) Sony did...- Ptrick

American/World Idols - what's the big deal?
Quote: Originally posted by Matthew-Spaltro Why does the general public idolize "musicians" who... 1. Don't write their own songs? 2. Don't play any instruments? 3. That just look good on camera? Is it a social acceptance kind of thing? I agree with you, but also keep in mind... -

LOTR: Return of the King
Just saw it last night. What a fantastic movie! But I know I will have to watch it at least once again, like the first two installments, to fully appreciate it. There were so many moving moments in ROTK, more so than in either FOTR and TTT, IMO. Peter Jackson did an amazing job of making the...- Ptrick

Did I make a Mistake - Grado SR60s for house and electronic music?
Don't worry, the SR60's are fantastic phones for the money and will give you heaps of enjoyment for electronic music! I enjoy mine thoroughly. I'm guessing that the Grados will give you a tighter bass, more midrange and also increased soundstage over the portapros. If you expect heaps of...- Ptrick

Top five CD’s for when stranded on a deserted island.
Hmmm, I have to agree with dhwilkin in that there is little room for error in judgment because filler is waste of cd space. I'd have to make mine: 1. The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin 2. The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots 3. Radiohead - OK Computer 4. Darren Hanlon -... -

Should HD-580s and HD-600 cost almost the same?

Can't find sony d-25s!
Dan, Yep, they will inevitably pop up on the Gear For Sale/Trade forums from time to time, so don't fret! Good luck! Scottder, Sorry to hear you missed out, cos they were really good value for NOS units at $45. And regarding mods on the D25s, I'm very interested in getting mine modded too...- Ptrick

headphone life
My guess is that of all the headphones that are currently manufactured and available today, it will be Grado line that will best stand the test of time of in the years/decades to come. The minimal and spartan design of grados ensure that the less components there are, the less there is for...- Ptrick
