Draygonn, a picture of that would be nice, if just for giggles. I think I mentioned already, running 3x Fractal Design 120mm PWM fans at 500RPM, they're rated for 15dBa at 800RPM if I'm not completely wrong and I've got to say they're quite silent! 212+ is quite silent with the stock fan under...

To be honest there would be decent room for a bigger table in that corner, if the drawer wasn't on the way. I'm in a dorm and I've got limited space, but still plenty IMO

I did mention the slight emphasis on mids and highs, but I find it very comfortable. I only like the earthquake bass in movies. On top of that I don't usually relate with internet reviews too well. For instance, I hear a lot of criticism that my speakers (B3031A) "dont hav enuff bass", while I...

That is curious, my friend had the B2030A in her home where she produced some trance music, and both her mixes and the usual stuff we both listen to sounded great, even though both speakers were only 15cm away from side and rear walls! But I can see your point, as my B3031A sound nice, they're...

AFAIK you're allowed to mention NwAvGuy, unless links are thrown, you just got to do it in a subtle manner so the Gestapo won't be trying to liquidate you for attempting to demolish their sponsorship empire ;)

Or, sell the smaller Genelecs and take a step up the ladder and get the 8040 ;) I too found the 6010A to very much not need a subwoofer, at least in comparison to A2 and the such. They are really something, I've no idea how they make them so good, haha.

So agreed. This site has a lot of positive qualities, I like the news and gear library and big crowd, but I don't really like what happened with NwAvGuy and how blind testing is a swearword and Sound Science is separated from the "real" forums, basically implying common sense and proof are...

Ya'll bitches posting on a Jude page! Actually nevermind someone rearranged posts in a way that puts me on a different page so now I look like a total tool :D As an on-topic addition, I moved my fan headers from a controller to motherboard, applied fan throttling schemes in BIOS, and my desktop...

The A2 will most likely do fine for non-headphone listening and casual volume levels. If you can get the A5 though, I'd say "bigger is better" in this case ;) Bigger, and not too expensive options I personally loved: - Behringer B2030A (most likely cheapest of these three), my boyfriend had...

Holy crap, if you can get Genelecs for so little (they're 420€ a pair, between 500-600 USD here) I would get them in a jiffy! I might and most likely would buy them over my 8" Behringer monitors if I could trade them for no lost money. I have heard them both, not in the same space against each...

I would not recommend the Audioengine 2's, they're way too small to reproduce the whole frequency range, and if you try getting them louder to hear some lows too, they're going to go beyond their maximum woofer excursion and distort, BADLY. For very low listening volumes they are adequate, but...

Audible examples of different audio phenomena and terms?

The idea was to publish the short examples in a downloadable form for everyone so it could be used as a reference when searching for faults in playback equipment. I think it would benefit a lot of people, seen that many speaker and headphone reviews paint very expressionist scenery with the...

Audible examples of different audio phenomena and terms?

That's what I've been told and what I've read, and due to it's inability to be heard during situations where equipment is functional, I'd love to hear it, to give some perspective how little of it there is in ACTUAL usage scenarios. Cheers!

Lian Li is great but at least in Finland, ridiculously expensive. I got a Fractal Design Define R3 for 90€, looks like a fridge just like Lian Li does for half the price :D Antec P180 Mini and P183 come to mind too. I value ease of installation, noise dampening, features and durability over...

Review by 'Zeebra' on item 'AKG K 272 HD High-Definition Headphones'

Value: I paid a steep price for them, you can get it for about $129 nowadays from some places, which would drive the value a lot higher. Still okay IMO. Audio Quality: Doesn't distort, doesn't cause ear-fatigue which I'm usually sensitive to, authentic and unemphasized, precise lows, natural...

Review by 'Zeebra' on item 'Sony MDREX10LP/BLK In-Ear Headphones'

Value Having a thing for throw-away grade earbuds, I saw these pretty sleek things for 9,90€ in a supermarket and thought hey, why the hell not! I wasn't expecting anything, but damn these little things surprised me! Audio Quality The lowest of low frequencies roll off ever so slightly, so...

I would agree, I would be much less interested in digital signal processing and electronics, D/A and A/D conversion and compression if I didn't like audio so much.

Yeah it might look funny, but to be honest I only hear the separation between tweeter and woofer if I put my ear next to the speaker, right now they're good two feet away from my ears, and positioned in an even-sided triangle with my head, and they work surprisingly well for their relatively big...

it's cool, gives a very good sense of scale if you've got it audible only in massive jitter vs the miniscule differences between transports and DACs etc. I could try getting a good sample, was thinking of classical, a short passage of Canon in D Major or the such

Jitter is one thing I would like to hear in an example like this, too! I found this cool video with some things, like noise at several volumes among music material and bit crushing; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYTlN6wjcvQgives some scale to things, high quality samples in description

Thanks for the confirmation! I understand calibrated measurement mics and ones that withstand very high SPL or are known to be very durable costing a lot but other than that I'm quite sure affordable mics will do just alright. And I'm lucky I will do just fine with the supplied Ableton Live...
