    Best classical recordings...ever!

+1 on the Munch Daphnis. But I just got my hands on the Dutoit/Montreal recording, and it's fantastic as well--can't decide which interpretation I prefer. Sound quality is definitely a step up though.

    1964 Ears Adel IEMs

Am I the only one wishing they made a U-3 (universal 1964-V3) ? Early bid price would have been around $250.

Thanks!   Also wanted to mention I got a little confused--I meant Bernstein with the concertgebouw, not Vienna. I'm not even sure there is a vienna recording lol.   As long as it's this one, you got the one I'm talking about.

    Best classical recordings...ever!

His 9th with the Concertgebouw must be slowest rendition ever--the last movement is 30 mins long. But it's also the most searing, painful reading busting at its seams. Sometimes unbearably emotional. For Mahler fans looking for the greatest extreme, definitely check it out.     I agree about...

    Brand Spanking New A&K AK120II and AK100II

CosmicHolyGhost said earlier that they will be available from AK dealers soon.   Wonderful, I agree, but I wish they went with the standard leather texture. The reptile look is really flashy, even in just black. Oh well.

    Brand Spanking New A&K AK120II and AK100II

Anyone know if Dignis plans to release AK100II / AK120II cases at all? They've already got Cowon and Calyx, maybe they don't even plan on doing them?

    Brand Spanking New A&K AK120II and AK100II

I was having the same issue too. It seems that it doesn't let you copy over new folders--i.e. you cant copy over a folder for an artist that contains Albums > Songs.    What you can do though, is open up iTunes, select all the songs, and drag that in to the music folder of your AK100II. Of...

    Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion

Your descriptions and earlier impressions sound like a super-HD600. I'm very excited.

    Best classical recordings...ever!

For the Kreisleriana, Claudio Arrau. Mind you I haven't heard the Cortot or Kissin, and neither the Perahia, which I turned away from because I did not like his highly regarded Davidsbunderlantze--I assume that I just don't like his style. I'm intrigued by the Cortot; I have a lot of his Chopin...

    Best classical recordings...ever!

I have the Leslie Howard Liszt box as well, a lot of volume 7 (Harmonies Poétiques & Religieuses) stood out for me. Not what you would expect from Liszt.(In a good way) For orchestral music, how about the Hungarian Fantasy or the Faust Symphony?     It seems like Schumann's piano music...

So Rudi, now that you found your best set up, you're going to give away everything else to random head-fiers, right?

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player

It's here--https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1003614822/ponomusic-where-your-soul-rediscovers-music?ref=recently_launched   Some extra info I found--internal memory is 64gb, not 128gb. It does come with a 64gb microsd card, though.   Couldn't find any real specifications on the audio...

Don't really like the HD558s any suggestions?

lol closed might actually be easier :)   NVX XPT100 / Brainwavz HM5 -These are both rebrandings of the Fischer Audio FA-003, just easier to get in the U.S.   Audio Technica m50 - Lauded as the value king up until a few years ago.   Creative Aurvana Live 2 - similar sound to the original...

Don't really like the HD558s any suggestions?

dt990 pro is $143 on Amazon right now, AKG k240 mkII is $115, standard k240 even less. Amp isn't necessary for the AKG I would say.   AD700x would be great for gaming, and those definitely don't need amping. Good luck!   Some audiophile lingo to help you: Voices sound muffled and murky -...

Going to Japan soon - where do I need to visit?

As others have said, Yodobashi Camera and Bic Camera have headphones, but I think you may be thinking of e-earphone, it's a store dedicated to audiophilia, also in Akihabara. You can listen to all the used stuff in glass cases too, including amps, dacs, cables. If you want serious listening, I'd...

FiiO X5 preview world tour--tour members, claim your souvenir for the X5 tour! p.123

Yes, but its not only that--if you take a look at your tags, you'll notice same composers will be tagged differently. For example, Tchaikovsky can be under 'Pyotr Tchaikovsky' , 'Tchaikovsky, Pyotr' , 'Tchaikowsky, Pyotr', 'Tchaikovsky(1840-1893) / Pyotr', 'Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky' etc, it's...
