Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones
Gave my friend a pair of those Monoprice earbuds... He was freaking out, then just sat with a blank look on his face and a excited look in his eyes staring for about 10 minutes, took 'em out and says 'i'll never be able to listen to those apple whites again.' Anyways, I just so happened to have...- Nightowl217

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones
Not a headphone reaction at all, but my friend has some decent speakers that for the longest time have been A) Set up incorrectly, and B) using a DVD player as an amp. So, I convinced him to get a real amp, (lepai tripath) and set it up for him today. To say the least, he was blown away. He...- Nightowl217

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones
Well, that was fun. Yesterday I let this guy I know try my new Turbines, and he listens to them for 20-30 minutes through his laptop, and when he takes them out, all he has to say is 'sounds a lot like i'm listening to speakers.' I told him the price, and he said 'not bad, I just might get...- Nightowl217

Monster Turbine Appreciation Thread
Well, I found out that it was a problem with the included tips, but mostly a problem on my part, having inserted the tip too deeply into my ear and having bent the silicone, cutting off the sound. I hope your right about the Hybrid's, I just ordered some.- Nightowl217

Monster Turbine Appreciation Thread
Well, got them in the mail yesterday, and I really want to like them. They sound great to me, but getting a seal was very finicky. But more problematic then that, is that there is a very audible channel imbalance. The left side feels almost non-existent. I expected better. I had heard so many...- Nightowl217

Looking for Headphones just as good or better than Beats Studios....
Quote: Kinda-sorta. But I guarantee, if you really want them to have a removable cable, you could probably pay someone on the FS/Trade forums to modify them to have a removable cable.- Nightowl217

Quote: Just get the M50 and never look back. Trust me on this one. Its never a good idea to jump straight to an open headphone if you have even the slightest thoughts of using them anywhere besides quiet places.- Nightowl217

Looking for Headphones just as good or better than Beats Studios....
Quote: Eh, while yes, the E3 is useless, I rather like the E6 for its price. The E6 definitely doesn't add anything to the sound, but it is very capable for the price.- Nightowl217

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones
Today I let a friend listen to my Sansa Fuze>Fiio L6>Fiio E11>ATH M50s I loved his reaction, calm and collected, not saying anything but what he heard. "There good. Less bass then my Bose, but everything is much clearer. I like them." I love being able to get reactions like that, from...- Nightowl217

Vocal to the left, instrument to the right
Just my .02, but it's most likely the recording. Great example is Beatles albums. Almost always have more going on in the left channel than the right. An easy fix could be getting an audio player with crossfeed.- Nightowl217

Ripping some CD's, should I oversample?
Well recently having switched from listening to a cd player to listening through a DAC, i've been ripping a lot of cd's lately. I know that cd's are 16/44.1, but i was wondering if there are any benefits/negatives to oversampling while ripping. Thanks, Owl- Nightowl217
