Getting Back Into Head-Fi, Opinions Needed!

So my impulses got the best of me, and I just splurged on the following: AH-D2000's, Zero DAC/Pre-amp/Amp, Monster coaxial and Toslink cables (for two inputs to the Zero), and a Chaintech AV-710. I'll be running optical out from the Chaintech to the Zero, and the other input is going to be...

Getting Back Into Head-Fi, Opinions Needed!

How would this setup work? Laptop optical out -> Zero DAC/Preamp -> Little Dot II -> Denon AH-D2000? It wouldn't cost too much (seemingly a pretty good bang for the buck, but I could be wrong).

    Best Source For Digital Music?

I'm familiar with most of the links in the sticky at the top of this subforum for CD's, but I'm looking for high-quality (>= 256Kbps) digital MP3's that are DRM-free, preferably via a subscription-based service. My favorite in the past was ALLOFMP3. Digital music. (now Mp3Sparks.com), but...

Getting Back Into Head-Fi, Opinions Needed!

I'll probably end up listening to them via a laptop(Macbook Pro)-as-source for the majority of the time, but also possibly a CD-player of some sorts. I was taking a look around, and the Zero DAC/Amp is getting some really good reviews for a very modest price. Any opinions on their synergy? I'm...

Wow, that review of the AH-D2000's plus a few that I was reading on Amazon makes these sound the exact can I'm looking for. Moreover, it's right in the price range I was looking for. What's the best amp/DAC to combine them with (again, I'd like to stay relatively inexpensive)?

Things sure have changed! I don't recognize any of those specific models. Keep in mind that while I want something that doesn't leak sound, a little leakage is ok, as I like airy cans

Getting Back Into Head-Fi, Opinions Needed!

Alright, so I had gotten out of the whole hi-fi scene for an extended period of time after selling my Darth Beyers and M^3 a while back. However, I'm nearing the end of my senior year in high school, and I don't think Georgia Tech is going to tolerate these Klipsch speakers that I have...

    iPhone Adapater?

I've been away from the head-fi community for quite some time now (thanks to college apps and standardized tests galore), but I picked up an iPhone a couple of weeks ago and haven't gotten around to modifying it in such a way that would allow me to use some decent headphones. I can't take the...

    Coaxial?

I checked Blue Jean's website, but never saw any terminations for any of the cables so I wasn't sure what exactly I'd be getting. Do you simply choose the type of cable and then include the termination in the PayPal note or something?

    Coaxial?

Does it matter what the cable is though? Like would the cable that I linked in my original post work? It's coaxial, but I was under the impression that coaxial carried only digital audio. I don't think the Klipsch has a decoder, so would I not need some sort of analog cable?

    Coaxial?

Actually I didn't notice the separate S/PDIF and RCA outputs.

    Coaxial?

I just ordered a M-Audio Firewire Audiophile DAC and some Logitech Pro Media 2.1's a couple days ago. However, in order to connect the output of the DAC to the ProMedia's input 1/8" Mini jack, I'll need some sort of adapter. I'm assuming that the ProMedia's take an analog signal, since they're...

    DAC Solution?

Ok, I'm back in the market for a DAC. I was contemplating either a USB/Firewire M-Audio Audiophile or an Emu 0404 USB, which one? I just ordered some Klipsch ProMedia 2.1's, and I'm going to need to hook it to the DAC, which is why I was leaning towards the Emu rather than buying some sort of...

    DAC Solution?

I can already tell you that I won't be recording, so I don't need all of that extra stuff. I'm just looking for a good DAC to output to my M^3 for a reasonable price (lets say that ~$250 is the limit). I have a pair of RCA to RCA interconnects that I might could use if they're the right type...

Anyone else? Also, if I was to get a USB Emu 0404, what would be the best way to connect it to my Rockhopper M3? It accepts RCA, but I don't know much more than that (I'm still a tad confused about cabling protocols).

    DAC Solution?

I made a thread similar to this a few days ago, but there have been some changes in my setup since then. I just today received my 250GB WD external HDD, gigabig switch, and Linksys NSLU2 NAS. Right now I'm in the process of copying my collection over to the external HDD (around 1800 songs...

    USB Emu 0404?

The USB Emu 0404 would be fuctioning as a sound card, externally. In the grand scheme of things, this is how it would go: External 250GB HDD -> Linksys NSLU2 (for sharing the HDD among multiple computers) -> Cat5 Cable -> Gigabit switch -> Main computer Then, from there: Computer ->...
