    A rather unusual question

If I may ask, compared to the 280s, how is the isolation? I find the 280s to be very acceptable as far as sound isolation goes.

    A rather unusual question

So, you would recommend the HD-25 originals then? Not the IIi or the like? Thank you for your answer, by the way. It was extremely helpful.

    A rather unusual question

I haven't ever heard a clear comparison between Sennheiser HD-25 and Audio-Technica M50s. I'm looking to upgrade from my HD 280 pros. Looking for something a little more portable and less bulky. Would someone be able to compare the sound quality as well as the sound isolation in these two cans...

    Open vs. Closed Headphones

I'm sorry about the thread title. If I could change it I would.    I really an interested in working in a college atmosphere. I'll have my own place next year, but still have roommates. I just want to be able to get a great pair of cans that I don't annoy everyone, especially in my studio...

    Open vs. Closed Headphones

I don't want a long debate on which one is better. I simply would like to know how bad the bleed problem on open-air phones are. I know they sound better, provide better comfort (in most cases), and usually cost a lot more cash. I want an open-air pair of phones, HD-600 or HD-650s, but can't...

FiiO E17 "ALPEN" - First Impression + Final Thought

Would HD600s or HD650s work better with this amp? Is there an idea that the e17 isn't quite powerful enough to drive some of the higher end phones? Or, because they are still a better pair of cans they will produce better SQ?

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

I love the sound of the Denons, personally, but even I acknowledge the great usefulness of the HD 600s. I might pick myself up a pair as soon as I have the money.

LCD-3 or LCD-2 or any other?

I guess the question is whether or not you actually want to dish out for a pair of $945 headphones, or even $2000. It seems to me a more practical route to buy a high-end DAC and amp that will complement less expensive headphones much better than the LCD-2s and a pair of crappy amp and DAC.

    ATH-M50?

I think the M50s are a good choice. As far as sweating issues, you can make the experience more comfortable by tweaking the headhpones and earcups to your preference. Of course you can't make a headphone that fits every single person's head perfectly without adjustment. As far as the beat...

    Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones

Most of my friends don't understand it. They listen to their apple earbuds and think that they sound just as good as my 280s. But that's the plague of being able to hear, I suppose.

The Deals Thread (CLOSED! See the last post for the link to the new thread)

I doubt the 598s are going to go much lower than they have been going for. They dropped as someone above noted to $173 on Amazon. I just don't see them going much below 150 for Black Friday, and then you have to ask yourself if the wait was worth it.

    Beats

It's more of a calming feeling of the bass, it's not mind-bogglingly loud. My head hurts because of the entirety of the sound, it doesn't mesh well and confuses my ears because it isn't very flat like Sennheisers. Keep in mind I have the volume at <40%. I don't know how to explain the bass...

    Beats

I think the studios work well for Lil Wayne and that style of rap. The bass is moving, and it isn't a bass monster as people claim it to be. It is actually a bit more relaxing and you can feel it in your chest. The biggest problem I have with my pair of beats, and the reason I'm selling them, is...

Beats Style Headphones but Not Beats?

The HD 598s look pretty nice. The tan gives it a distinct look and I think it really is pleasant.

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum

I don't have an existing DAC, nor amplifier. I have a custom built desktop and an ipod classic. And a pair of HD 280s, that is all.

As an aspiring audiophile, I'm thinking about getting Sennheiser 650s. I'm also wanting the LCD-2s. Would it make more sense to get an HD 650 with good DAC and amp, or do the LCD-2's run dry better. Also, would the LCD-2s be that much better in the long run? I like their look a lot more.

What is the best Portable DAC for iPod Classic 160GB to buy?

Sorry for intruding into this topic, but responding to the post above. So If I have a DAC, but also something like a Fiio L9 that has a line-out to headphone plug, how does that work? Or does my LOD need to be ipod connector to USB --> DAC --> regular audio jack --> amp --> headphone.

    Beats and Sennheisers

Yea, but I realize taht after a long time of listening to the beats, my head just hurts. The flatness of the 280s allows for a lot longer of listening time.

    Beats and Sennheisers

I have a pair of HD 280 Sennheiser cans, and I have loved them for a very long time. However, I just picked up a pair of Beats Studios for an extremely low price, and was happy to do so for what I invested in them. I would never have paid the full $300 price tag. My question is, after first...

Hi, I'm looking for a pair of very comparable cans. I have Sennheiser HD 280s right now, and am very pleased with the sound. They allow me to work undisturbed in noisy environments. However, I really want an open-air pair of headphones that will allow me to experience the music more. I am...
