    4 wires, what are they?

I am actually surprised by this color order.  If I was to bet I would have said Red-left, Copper-Right and Greens-return.  Reason for the Greens - return is that one you have 2 of the same color and that just makes sense, 2 green is often choosen for ground.  Reason for Red == left is well...

Logitech's Squeezebox Touch - opinions sought on quality

Quote:   We got to the point of companies assuming an iPhone/iPod Touch when Apple started making those things so cheap.  If you had to choose between buying an iPod Touch for $199 to control your radio, or buy a dedicated controller that has a smaller LCD for $299 which do you think most...

Logitech's Squeezebox Touch - opinions sought on quality

Quote: Actually that device has existed for several years.  I have had the Squeezebox Radio branded one for awhile, it is great on the bedside.  However that UE rebranded version has a crippled firmware that makes it not work with the Squeezebox systems :(.   Also WHY would you want...

    Worried to test M3

Quote: Well lets do the math.  If your MMM is a standard build with a 50K pot then your input impedance is ~47ohms.  You want the cap to filter out frequencies below say 10Hz. So solve for C freq = 1/(2*pie*R*C)

My first build log... AMB Mini³ w/ lots of pictures!

Quote: Nice build, however FYI that pink plastic and foam is actually conductive so I would not use it to lay powered devices on it.

    Different way to display LED's

Nice work on the LEDs.  That is what I did with the LEDs on my B22 case.  Course I had Front Panel Express do the dirty work, I had a 1mm hole drilled on the front with a 3mm hole drilled on the backside to mount a 3mm blue led.  It gives that pinpoint look and the hole is almost invisible with...

    Beta22!

Why are your resistors so high off the board?  Are you doubling them up as handles?

What's the deal with amplifier hiss?

Get a better source. What you are hearing is the noise floor of your sound card. As you demonstrated using different sources produced lower noise. So get a different source, USB dac might work well for you.

    Adding bass boost to Mini3

This is probably a very bad idea for the mini3. The opamps used are extremely picky and any extra inductance in the feedback will most likely make them unstable. Adding a bass boost by creating a bypass circuit in the feedback would most likely make the amp unstable.

    Digital Volume Knob Thingy

It is called an rotary encoder. Basic idea is the microcontroller reads the pulses that it sends.

Best amp to listen to vinyl records using AKG 701 headphone?

Do you have a phono preamplifier? If not you really need one before piping that table to any old amp.

    WOW!!! I gave J River a try...

Quote:   Well if you were a regular poster you would have learned that Jim is extremely "careful" with his forums.  Yes they are his to do with as he pleases but he likes to perform phantom edits on other posters posts without any notification to the post or the poster.  When I asked...

The Beta22/Sigma22 amp has arrived Review added!

Confused, why would you have to unplug the headphones to turn off the amp?   NOTE: Do NOT unplug the headphones while the amp is ON, this is a good way to blow the output mosfets. Quote:

Replace your pot with something a little nicer will most likely elimante the cracking.

The Perfect Headphone Amp - does it Exist ?

Everything you posted does something to modify the sound.  Many strive to have an amp that is just gain.  Added complexity increases the chance of introducing something unwanted. But to break it down. 1. Balance controls add another noisey attenuator to the circuit, and really very few...

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?

Please get some insulated quick connects for your high voltage AC lines.  They are cheap and easy to find at the local hardware store and can save you from a very life costly mistake.  If you can not find insulated ones then just cover the connectors with some heat shrink. Quote:

Roll Call: Who's building, built, or thinking of building a beta22?

Quote: I do not want to sound mean, however I think you are in over your head.  B22 is one of the more complex builds you can do, and doing a balanced just adds more complexity.  The answer to your questions are detailed on amb site.    I would strongly recommend you build a few other...

Mini^3 volume control knob keeps falling off

Is the set screw coming loose or does it never get tight against the pot shaft?   If it is just that the screw comes loose over time maybe try some lock-tite on the threads.  However I have not had any such issue with the knobs I have used.

Bad low frequency bass on AKG K702

Quote: I have no experience with the CANAMP so can not comment.  I recommend watching the Meets Forum for a meet near your area and go to that if possible.  Bring your headphones and try them on every amp you can, great way to get a chance to listen to different gear.  Please though...

Bad low frequency bass on AKG K702

That test report is meaniless for how it operates as an AMP driving speakers.  That is a unloaded line out test, if you do not understand what this means then I suggest you either educate yourself or stop looking at specs.   As for PC having enough power, I am not saying that the PC PSU can...

Bad low frequency bass on AKG K702

No that is exactly what a blown driver sounds like.  And the fact that you were overdriving the amp in your soundcard with a low freq. sine wave is what killed it.  Short of just hooking up a battery to the voice coil you really could not make a more efficient way to kill a driver.   Your...

Bad low frequency bass on AKG K702

Quote: I am pretty sure you blew your K702s by driving your amp into clipping.  That flapping noise is not clipping but a blown driver.  Underpowered amps and driving them to clip is the easiest way to kill any speaker.  Problem with a Soundcard and K702s is that your Vp-p is only 5.6V...

Bad low frequency bass on AKG K702

Quote:   Do you know the difference between testing the line out unloaded and testing a loaded amplifier?  As I already stated comparing specs and test results that do not have matching test parameters is pointless and no meaning can be had from the comparison.
