A thinking man's treble... In a portable?
If your only problem is the EQ for portable, there's an app called "EQu" that really drastically changes the sound. It recently got an update that lets it be used in the Multi-tasking bar and on the Lock Screen, so it's basically like the default music app. The only problem is the UI's buttons...- Quote

How much heat will it take to ruin my headphones?
The only hot place I leave my headphones is in the car while I'm out and about or something, but is that hot enough to damage them? Namely, the m50s and 840s.- Quote

Lets Talk Metal
Oh goodie, an instrumental talk. NOW FOR RECOMMENDATIONS NO ONE ASKED FOR. For guitar solos, definitely check out some John 5; I swear, he rips so hard he tears off five heads every song he plays. Going into some older, hard rock stuff, Focus' Hocus Pocus is great, and I think the yodeling is... -
Lets Talk Metal
Seriously starting to get into the Thrash Revival bands like Evile and Gama Bomb(my two favorites, anyway). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5G8cDxPD2o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=924bRfmiJ20 -
Looking for high quality source of The National's song Exile Vilify
For a song written for a game, there probably isn't going to be an album for it until they release it on an EP or something. And I have looked; it isn't on any of their albums or EPs, so you're probably stuck with the lossy version. Alternatively, you could rip it from Portal 2's files... -
m50's love the Fiio E7/E9
This thread was all I needed to decide to get the E7. I abandoned my M50 for my Pro700MK2, which doesn't run as well from an iPod as well as M50's do, IMO. My soundcard is also complete crap, so this should be fun~- Quote

Audio-Technica ATH-OR7
After I bit more research I managed to find a couple sites in the US. Both have them discounted to around $100(plus like 30 dollars shipping), so they're closely priced to the M50. http://www.gimmedigi.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2349¤cy=usd&gclid=CLSPydzM66kCFUPBKgodqC-QYg- Quote

Audio-Technica ATH-OR7
Anyone in Europe/Japan managed to try them? They don't seem to be in the US yet, as basically every site with them is European or in Japanese. Here's the link to AT's shop: http://www.audiotechnicashop.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=35_43&product_id=87 I'd really like to try these...- Quote

Confused about metal headphones -_-
Well, do you headbang to such bands? Typically, yes. Do you headbang to symphonic metal? Typically, no. The Grado's response is fast, with raw mids, and the bass is pretty tight. The soundstage, however, is utter crap. The Sennheisers do have the open soundstage with good bass, but it's not as...- Quote

Closed rock/metal headphones
Gonna bump this, still in the search. Ultrasone HFI-780 is looking like my favorite for now, followed by Audio-Technica's ESW-9.- Quote

Headphone Sightings 2
There's more pics of this up on their site. Rob(the guy in the front of the picture, James is on the left)'s wearing what looks to be different 'phones so can anyone ID those? They're in a much better shot. Lars(the drummer) seems to be wearing the same 'phones as James. If I had to say...- Quote

7 drum hits -> What do you hear?
Second one on M50's. First one on Pro700mk2's. And second one on Shure 840. So weird.- Quote

Audio Technica Pro700MK2 & M50 picture comparison.
From my experience, the PRO700MK2 is like the ultimate basshead headphone, with the right pads. I haven't experimented much, but the 250 pads were a loose fit, if I remember correctly.- Quote

the most comfortable headphones?
Beyer Dynamic DT250, I believe. Shure 940's should fit it also, as they have the same pads as 840's according to Shure. And since the 940s come with an extra set of pads, IT GIVES YOU A GOOD REASON TO GET THEM BECAUSE THEY'RE AWESOME(the headphones).* *That's a very bad reason to get them but...- Quote

Can Anyone Tell Me What These Are?
Nooooope. I looked through all but like two pages of Google. I found out that they have several other audio products, though. Very old, I saw something as far back as 1959, it was a vinyl disc tester. :B- Quote

Audiotex - Anybody know ´em?
BUMP BUMP Apparently these things aren't a one-of-a-kind. A reported sighting by another head-fi'er: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/560712/can-anyone-tell-me-what-these-are (it gives no name but comparing pictures made it obvious that they're the same)- Quote

Volume of Headphones
So it relies on the SPL? Thanks for that. After posting this and I was away from the internet I realized I could've posted something really simple and gotten my point across much better. Perceived sound = same damage as real sound?- Quote

Is Head-Fi Witnessing The Rise Of Two New Kings
well considering that the LCD-2 is the number 1 'phone on the site(according to the Head Gear section) I'd say that at least that one is successful. Haven't heard as much about HE-500 though- Quote

Headphone Sightings 2
GENERIC METAL NERD TIME I've grown out of the band for the most part, but Metallica's working on a new album with Lou Reed, with this picture on their site: I was wondering if someone could tell me what headphones James is wearing?(he's the one on the left for those that don't know)- Quote
