The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread
I only said I had the same experience with my K701 as he did with his Q701, so I don't see how your statement is relevant to that. That's all I needed to know, thanks.- Nom de Plume

The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread
I echo that sentiment (only, for the K701 rather than the Q701). Did you pair the Q701 with the Astro Mixamp*? I'm buying one soon with fervent hope its imaging will "improve". *Were you referring to MLE's thread when you said, "Based on the reading I did"? Apologies if I assumed...- Nom de Plume

Rate The Last Movie You Watched
"Life of Pi" in 3D. Breathtaking, both in visuals and in narration. I don't know what I would rate it, but I know I'd recommend it. edit: Agreed. "Angels and Demons" (also by Dan Brown) was not an enjoyable read. I never finished because of similar reasons.- Nom de Plume

Rate The Last Movie You Watched
Agreed, Prometheus was a dismal effort. I think it was the last movie I watched, and I would recommend people to stay away. "A strange fable" is a generous description.- Nom de Plume

Denon D7100?!
Quote: Normally, I'd do exactly that. When opinions tend to be heavily polarized, I'd just give the headphone a go. But, I don't have the extra dough (or the time) for a hit-and-run demo, so this forum (along with other review sites) is the only utility I can viably use to sketch an...- Nom de Plume

Audeze closed-back prototypes! Yeah, this is one of the headphones at the top of my wish list.
Wait, that would make it a loser. Why would I buy a headphone that sounds just like another headphone (unless it's cheaper) -- especially if made by the same company? AKG received a lot of heat for the Q701, which was essentially a superficial, albeit appealing, makeover of the K701 with...- Nom de Plume

New Woo Audio Product at CanJam RMAF 2012
I don't think ~$30 is too big a deal at this scale. Besides, like grokit said, the price will only go up (substantially) since $777 is an introductory price, which is why I won't even bother with this.- Nom de Plume

New Woo Audio Product at CanJam RMAF 2012
You say this, but the photo tells me otherwise. I'm just kidding. But at $777 (basically $800), I'll have to step out. That's just too much even for consideration, but I'm sure someone will still step in line to buy this.- Nom de Plume

Audeze closed-back prototypes! Yeah, this is one of the headphones at the top of my wish list.
This is a rule of thumb for everything. P.S. I can't be the only one who isn't googly-eyed by the design. It isn't that appealing.- Nom de Plume

Denon D7100?!
Why... Why! While I may be deviating from popular opinion, I found the D7100 gorgeous. Yet, the impressions, the reviews... Even confirmatory bias can't save me now.- Nom de Plume

V-MODA M-100 & VTF-100 Appreciation Thread: Images, Impressions, Reviews.
Not to indulge in diplomatic doublespeak, but I think you should put this into perspective. The M-80/M-100 both primarily target an audience that wants appealing (or borderline ostentatious) headphones while commuting; otherwise, I doubt V-Moda would bother to include such nice cases. If...- Nom de Plume

I Don't Understand You Subjective Guys
You chose a very roundabout way of saying, "It isn't a travesty, but that methodology ought not be praised above others simply because it tickles the objectivist's fancy." (EDIT: Or did I read that wrong?) Just out of my own curiosity, why did you write all of that as a response to Steve...- Nom de Plume

O2 vs TOTL
Interesting stuff, along with mikeaj's input. I'll be looking more into this, and thanks for the response, Currawong. About your last paragraph, it doesn't become important simply because it's a fact. As earlier indicated, I recognized it as a truism, but that's the thing: it's a truism - an...- Nom de Plume

O2 vs TOTL
Out of curiosity, could you explain how measurements are so limited? Also, you ended your post very poetically, but I pray you know you only restated "it is what it is, and it isn't what it isn't". A few in the crowd may see that as eloquent or articulate, but that's just tautological. Just...- Nom de Plume

Crazy but true story of how this pauper got the girl and hifi equipment...Where there's a will, there is a way even for the poor hifiman >:D
Well, for starters, you could begin posing the questions you're asking here to the friends you know in person. Friendship is usually formed through frivolous interaction, but it's nearly always deepened through discussions sparked by questions similar to what you're asking on this board. ...- Nom de Plume

Crazy but true story of how this pauper got the girl and hifi equipment...Where there's a will, there is a way even for the poor hifiman >:D
How odd. The overwhelming majority of 2nd generation Koreans I know preserve their native tongue, even after they start school, since they often remain in Korean communities. San Fran, Atlanta, New York, etc. I've been to all of them, and most of the ankle biters there know Korean better than I...- Nom de Plume

Nicely done! Can't deny that feeling you get from enjoying the dividends of 2 weeks' hard work. I was under the impression that the Droid RAZR was your wife's welcome-home gift. May as well stash the extra $300 for a future purchase. ;) Quote: Just remember, admissions rate...- Nom de Plume

Getting "called-out" for not wearing the Beats
Inane arguments are the easiest to quit. People won't cease arguing if they see value in continuing, be this value self-gratification or dialectic, but no one will feed an argument he/she believes inane. Bear in mind: this includes silly endeavors such as trolling. Those who troll often...- Nom de Plume

Getting "called-out" for not wearing the Beats
I have to wonder why you even continued to argue with him for so long over something largely inane. In a sense, he can argue that his PoV is as valid as yours; however, that doesn't indicate it's as valuable as yours. The credentials you listed boast the value of your input, not the validity...- Nom de Plume
