Progressive metal Symphonic metal Video game OSTs    Kings lynn,  England     Those look like they'd break within the first couple of days of usage while mobile to me though,  probably fine for sitting their listening but for portable use i'm thinking they're going to break easily.  

Care to post how to perform the mod you speak of?  

Tests have been done, and a langled up metal coat hanger was proven to be just as good as any fancy £5000 an inch wiring.

Right, now heres a real task for you guys,  i'm looking for some bone conducting headphones that will be used in a very noisy environment,  will be wearing earplugs and supra-aural closed back headphones to block the noise out,  to complete the set-up  i'm looking for neutral bone conducing...

Seriously, i don't get it, everyone says ad700s are bad for metal, yet they have the same  kind of signature as grados, louder highs quieter bass and little in the middle area.    what am i missing here that makes grados better?

Just get any old bit of metal and jam it into the mini xlr jack on the headphones then duct tape it to the headphones, then put the other end in a 3.5mm extension cable and duct tape it to that, voila fixed headphone cable ending in 3.5mm jack.  less than £5 to repair.

I prefer things to go mk1 mk2 /version 1 version 2 etc.  keeping the same name for different products is just stupid and when you change the model number you end up running out of numbers,example, sennheiser HD555->558 only next number is 559 at which point 560 makes it seem to be on another...

Are your headphones pressing harder on the tongue of the ear than they used to? i've found that excess pressure there triggers my tinnitus after a while even without discomfort.   If i were you i'd just not listen to anything with headphones for a day and just wear them without anything...

M30s perhaps? same series so sound should be the same type just lower quality.

DT770s + equaliser perhaps?

One annoying thing about headphones over speakers...sibilance, every single pair i've tried has sibilance, anytime a female sings an f or s or t its just a grating sssssssssssssss :(
