aptX Adaptive / aptX Lossless USB Transmitters
Hi, Sorry, haven't had time to read through the thread. Just stumbled across it via search. I'm looking for a USB bluetooth adapter to use with my Win 11 laptop, to connect to a Dali Katch G2 bluetooth speaker via aptX HD without truncating the word size to 16 bit like my Creative BT-W3...- MarkyMark

UK head-fi'ers - recommendation for someone to recable headphones to 4-pin XLR?
Hi, I want to re-terminate Beyer T1 (v1) to 4-pin XLR (I have a balanced amp). Can anyone recommend someone in the UK who could do this work? I have contacted Audio Sanctuary (formerly called Custom Cable) as they are local to me - am awaiting a response, But would welcome other...- MarkyMark

Beyer T1 v1 - reterminate to XLR?
Hi, Thank you both. I will see if I can find someone here in the UK to do the work. As mentioned, the Sennheiser HDVA600 amp has balanced topology internally so am keen to use the XLR outputs on it if possible - I'm already using the HD800 terminated with Cardas XLR cable at present. ...- MarkyMark

Beyer T1 v1 - reterminate to XLR?
Hi, I recently purchased a pair of pre-owned T1's in the S/N 13xxx range. Have tried from my HDVA600 and headphone out on my Benchark DAC2HGC. They certainly seem to be smoother on the HDVA600, no doubt due to the higher output impedance on that. I'm sufficiently happy with the...- MarkyMark

Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
It does seem a bit strange that a £600 CD player would outperform the Benchmark DAC2, which is a well respected performer at its price point. I think you'll find the differences between DACs are subject to the law of diminishing returns quite quickly. So if you'd said you heard no...- MarkyMark

Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
Hi folks, Has anyone got any experience of running the Beyer T1 through this amp or the HDVA600? It seems the higher output impedance on the amp helps with the T1 voicing. Am particularly interested in any v1 versus v2 comparisons given the v1 is available at a discount now and not everyone...- MarkyMark

New HD 800 very different than the old HD 800
Will report back with my impressions on old vs new HD800 when I'm recovered. Am currently restricted to Etymotic ER4's for listening duties!- MarkyMark

New HD 800 very different than the old HD 800
Frequency response for S/N 40994: I've also owned HD800 S/N 654 since 2009 and the bass definitely looks flatter on that: I haven't been able to listen to the new HD800 yet (no headphone listening allowed due to operation on neck!) but will be intrigued to do the comparison...- MarkyMark

UK 2015 Head-Fi Meet (Cambridge - Saturday 25th April)
Thanks for the heads up Smial1966 . At the moment I'm not sure I can attend 'cos there is a strong possibility I have to work that weekend (I work in IT) but am nevertheless keeping my fingers crossed. I haven't been to a meet since Manchester 2009 so it's been a while! If I can...- MarkyMark

UK 2015 Head-Fi Meet (Cambridge - Saturday 25th April)
Hi all May possibly be able to make this date. If so would come by train and stay at local Travelodge on Fri night. Can anyone tell me how easy it is to get to Travelodge i.e. is there a nearby bus service and how far the meet venue is from Travelodge? Gear I could bring.. Benchmark DAC1...- MarkyMark

Chord Hugo
Sorry if these questions have already been asked but how does Hugo perform driving a power amp direct? And could it drive the HD800 to a decent standard (I'm thinking in comparison to my Lehmann BCL or Benchmark DAC1 headphone output). And what about the Ety ER4P or S? Thanks..- MarkyMark

M2Tech HiFace 2?
My HiFace2 works fine with USB3 ports on my Asus i5 ULV laptop. No pops, crackles etc. with 24/192khz material and doing web browsing etc. at same time. I use it with a Benchmark DAC1 classic and HD800. I'm using a 2 metre Belkin USB extension cable 'cos I use it in bed or at a work desk and...- MarkyMark

[Poor Man Reviews] Etymotic Research ER-4PT
PS I use the foamies. Much more comfortable than the flange tips, easier to get a decent seal and I didn't perceive any degradation in SQ.- MarkyMark

[Poor Man Reviews] Etymotic Research ER-4PT
I really enjoy these paired with Sony DAP's (I have the NWZ-S639F and NWZ-A865), usually with the EQ pushed up a notch or two across the frequency band (but no bass boost) to increase presence. The sound is very clear and detailed yet smooth. I've had them for 6 or so years and they are still...- MarkyMark

Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
Interesting comments about the balanced versus single-ended stages, something I wasn't really aware of when I borrowed this amp. As I mentioned yesterday, I was only able to listen to this amp in SE config due to there being no balanced cables in stock at Unilet/Custom Cable. In SE mode...- MarkyMark

Sennheiser HDVD800 Headphone Amplifier
I recently borrowed a HDVD800 for a home trial from Unilet in New Malden, UK aka Custom Cable. Unfortunately, they didn't have a balanced cable in stock for my HD800 so I could only do a test in single-ended mode. I primarily did a level matched test with the HDVD800 against the internal HPA-2...- MarkyMark

Sugden Masterclass HA-4 Headphone Amplifier - Anyone heard it?
Interesting comments. Ultimately, I didn't find my HA4 example (something around S/N 120) anything special using HD800 compared to the Benchmark DAC1's internal headamp and Lehmann BCL (I noticed bass was a bit lightweight). It sounded much happier with the GS1000i but bright (but I blame the...- MarkyMark

M2Tech HiFace 2?
I have the original HiFace and am using it with Foobar in KS mode, outputting to a Benchmark DAC1. The original HiFace manual claims to guarantee bitperfect transfer in KS mode and the Benchmark asynchronously resamples of the incoming datastream to 110khz, which is claimed to attenuate...- MarkyMark

Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10 with Sony DAP - amp required?
I'm using these headphones with the Sony NWZ-S639F and NWZ-A865 DAP's. I'm wondering if anyone has found any improvement with using an aftermarket amp such as one of the Fiio models versus the onboard amps? I've read that multi-armature earphones require the headphone output impedance to...- MarkyMark

Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread
Thanks all for the replies. I will have to see if I can get hold of demo pair with a recent serial number to check this further. WIll also check the Lehmann BCL I just got hold of vs the HA4 to see if it's an amplification issue.- MarkyMark

Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread
Has anyone done a comparison of the SQ of an early model vs later model to judge if the supposed extra 2-3db of bass on later models is apparent? I'm intrigued since I've got #654, with the frequency graph showing +3db at 100hz. Using with a Benchmark DAC1 and Sugden HA4 which sounds great but I...- MarkyMark
