    The discovery thread!

Purchased an Anode Acoustics SS HP #2 amplifier about 2 weeks ago. Attaching song-wise impressions of the same in an excel file. I'll upload a complete review once I get more time with the amp. Tested using Hifiman Ananda, Hifiman HE400i, Senn HD600 and Senn HD598 with Fiio X5III, Earman TR-Amp...

Reply to review by 'manuvajpai' on item 'Super Audio 6'

Hi @peter123 ! I recently purchased these because they sounded perfect for me based on your description. Sounded amazing out of the box with the default tips with slight upper-mid dip but the signature was a bit V-shaped. Tried these with foam tips and they sound like an (much) upgraded version...

    Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot

Back posting on head-fi after a very loooong time. Got my new Super Audio 6 and Fiio X5iii. The X5iii is like honey - thick, syrupy but crystal clear. Warm sound with extended treble pairs very nicely with my Fiio EX1 (Dunu Titan 1) as well. Thanks for the information, which made me choose the...

    [REVIEW] Feels Pro 900

Just received them today, so haven't had time for any critical listening. Since these are my first BAs the lack of bass was immediately apparent. Its very polite and may turn off some people. On the other hand the mids are beautiful and acoustic instruments are very well reproduced. Guitars and...

    [REVIEW] Feels Pro 900

I always found dynamic IEMs a bit slow for my tastes and hence was curious about BAs. I had one exposure to PL50s but didn't quite find them to my liking. In hindsight, it may have been because of the cheap source my friend was using with his pair. After reading your wonderful review I ordered...

[REVIEW] Sony MDR-ZX700 vs. Audio Technica ATH-AD700

I can understand your reasoning as far as not taking them out is concerned. I do take my ZX700s out and have been addressed as Robocop at times . Yup, they are big!

[REVIEW] Sony MDR-ZX700 vs. Audio Technica ATH-AD700

While the ZX700s do have their flaws, none of them are substantial enough to outweigh their pros for me. Their wonderful reproduction of acoustic instruments is enough to convince me of their value. It helps that I was utterly disappointed with my previous phones (AD700s) in this regard. And...

Nokia X1 : top notch audio quality for under 60$?

I ordered it online and will receive it by tomorrow. The website does say that it is shipping with a 1020mah battery. I have some a decent experience with Nokia phones in the past. My 5310 sounded more natural than my iPod classic but lacked in power and there was some harshness to the sound...

Nokia X1 : top notch audio quality for under 60$?

Was pretty dissapointed with the sound quality of my ZTE Blade (Dell XCD35 in India). The sound was extremely thin and honky and this thing had no power to drive my MDR-ZX700s and even Eterna. I ventured upon this thread and bought a Nokia 101, thanks to the comments by the OP and skree. It...

Pictures Of Your Portable Rig (part XV)

My RE2 cable snapped in half. They sounded good but the build quality always looked questionable to me. It was much better than my experience with Fischer eterna though. My left cable broke inside the shell and strain relief on the plug failed.

[REVIEW] Sony MDR-ZX700 vs. Audio Technica ATH-AD700

Complete review uploaded. Thanks for your wait!   EDIT: Wrote it in a hurry, the impending doom of a grad student awaits in the form of exams. Apologies if you find the material poorly organized and presented.

[REVIEW] Sony MDR-ZX700 vs. Audio Technica ATH-AD700

Well I haven't had exposure to very high resolution cans, besides my AD700, so I'll use them as a benchmark here. First off, these cans are more balanced than AD700s with a slight mid bump. It has a wonderful tonality and texture so instruments sound very very lifelike. However, these are polite...

[REVIEW] Sony MDR-ZX700 vs. Audio Technica ATH-AD700

_______________REVIEW: SONY MDR-ZX700___________________   Hello everyone,   The new Sony MDR-ZX700s are Sony's new entry into the $100 segment. They were released in the beginning of 2011 during CES and have gathered some minor head-fi love in the period. Sony claims that they are very...

Review: Better late than never - Head-Direct RE2 vs. AD700 comparative review (SQ only)

Hello all!   I have always been interested in the ongoing discussions on IEMs vs. Full-sized cans. There are pros and cons of each approach pertaining to soundstage vs. intimacy, details vs. timbre. The important point is that the realism provided by any audio reproduction equipment is...

Any anime series that you've been enjoying?

My absolute favorite is Mushishi. Just love the serenity and the simplicity of everything that is associated with that anime.Trigun was also an interesting anime but not the best.   I am currently following Naruto and Bleach but am getting really tired of their storylines.   Code Geass...

A new, fantastic way of using IEMs!

Does a player exist with HiFiMan quality without the built-in amp?

A new DAP from Little Dot is also in the making. It is speculated to have a good dac inside (WM8740) and has swappable amp modules as well for well under 400$. Lets hope it turns out to be a good competitor to Hifiman, at a lower price. This market segment is beginning to get even more...

Does a player exist with HiFiMan quality without the built-in amp?

I have heard neither the fuze/clip, nor the hifiman, but I don't understand how anyone can make a seemingly objective comment without any experience of both. That and the stressed conclusion that Hifiman is unnecessary. It is hard to believe that a player using a wonderful DAC (PCM1704) is going...

    Oh, the dichotemy.

I beg to differ. I am a student and don't earn a single penny, but am already eyeing those tasty tube amps and that lovely d7000 with markl mods. Good reason to earn money.
