iBasso IT01 a fun IEM. Single multilayered graphene driver. !! 99 USD !!
Anyone experimented with using spacers on the nozzle? I used the silver spacers from old Dunu 1k with the large wide bore tips and am hearing a marked improvement in the mids. Vocals and mids sound a lot warmer with more dimension. They did sound congested and thin to me at first but now it's a...- delmonte

Recommendations to Replace ATH-IM70
Just got my IT01s today and I think they're great! Quite good detail and separation, pretty natural, warm, and "fun" sound... the bass is just amazing. Even more depth and sub-bass rumble to my ears than what I remember from my IM70s but without the bloat and mids-contamination. Nice build...- delmonte

Recommendations to Replace ATH-IM70
Meaning that they're just not as good. But I'm leaning towards ibasso IT01 right now...they seem to get the most consistent good reviews from all those options.- delmonte

Recommendations to Replace ATH-IM70
Now looking also at the CH9T, ibasso IT01, and Fiio F9 even though it's a hybrid. Someone on the F9 thread said E40 can't keep up with them....thoughts?- delmonte

Recommendations to Replace ATH-IM70
I just lost my ATH-IM70 which I really liked, and looking to replace in around the same price range ($100). Looking at the E40 as an option and haven't found many comparisons between the two. I liked the sound signature of the IM70 but wouldn't mind something a bit cleaner/less congested, which...- delmonte

Dunu DN-1000 - Dunu's hybrid IEM - Impressions thread
Can anyone compare the DN1000 to the Titan 5? The 1000 are $30 more expensive but some people have said the T5 is an upgrade... better quality bass, more clarity. Is this true? I find it hard to believe that a single dynamic would have better quality and clarity than a hybrid. In any case can...- delmonte

How are the detail, separation, and imaging on these compared to the DN1000? An upgrade in those regards as well?- delmonte

Introducing Trinity Audio Engineering
Can anyone comment on how the Deltas perform with classical music? Strongly considering preordering the v2 but right now it's still between these, Dunu DN1k, and RE-600 so if anyone can comment on all three, especially with classical music I would appreciate it. Also, does anyone know when...- delmonte

Recommendations for CLASSICAL IEM $100-$150
Hi, I would really appreciate some suggestions for an IEM that works really well with classical music, and can be good with other stuff as well. I listen to mostly classical, though, so that is definitely the most important. A lot of symphonies, chamber music (string quartets), piano, etc., so...- delmonte

Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
I'm using medium tips from FXT90s. I tried the complys (not bad), Sony Hybrids, and a different brand of tips I found in France but the JVC medium gave me the best comfort and sound. The E6 improves the sound quite a bit already and I'm pretty sure these headphones are designed to be used...- delmonte

Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
So I finally got a chance to do a brief comparison with JVC FXT90s and I want to give my impressions. I owned the FXT90s for about 2 years, loved them very much, then lost them and replaced them with the IM70. My first impressions of the IM70 were pretty negative, based as a comparison of my...- delmonte

Check out the awesome bass rumble on these from the organ and deep voices. http://youtu.be/r4WlNj1TTqA Throughout the whole album, but especially in the first two tracks and then the last one, particularly the last 10 minutes or so.- delmonte

Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
Nice impressions. I agree with you generally. I don't find the treble rough but I agree they're not this IEM's strong point. Totally agree about piano recordings. They somehow just don't seem to produce a very natural sound with piano. It gets a bit thick and muddy, not open and clear. For...- delmonte

Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
The sound will become clearer, regardless of the tips you use, after you burn them in. The foam tips reduce some of the clarity but so do the stock silicone tips. Everyone here recommends getting different silicone tips. Any wide bore, soft tip should be better. The stock tips are too firm and...- delmonte

Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
In general, violins are very SLIGHTLY recessed, when compared with other instruments. Either that or I'm just used to hearing them more aggressively, which I like. Pre-burn in, they were really veiled, revealing no articulation or brilliance. That is no longer the case at all. They sound...- delmonte

Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
I will write out some detailed impressions with specific examples for violin a bit later. Right now I will say that before burn-in these were absolutely awful for violin and as a violinist it was disappointing. Now they have improved a lot and in general are really good. There may still be a...- delmonte

Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
Man, I just want to talk about how much I'm liking these headphones. I think the sound stage on these is pretty remarkable, especially when something is recorded really well. They have so much space and width, which allows for really good separation and clarity despite the beefy and warm sound...- delmonte

Audio-Technica IM50, IM70 Discussion Thread
The highs definitely open up with burn in. It also depends on which tips you use. The stock tips aren't good for highs, but of course it comes down to preference. I find the cables to be of very good quality. They don't tangle and seem very sturdy and it has an L-shaped jack which I...- delmonte

Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
Hm, I started using the FiiO E6 with my iPod again and it actually controls the bass quite a lot! Bass isn't so bloated and has a much more natural texture. I noticed the difference and A/Bed to make sure it wasn't my imagination and it definitely isn't. Straight out of the iPod, the bass easily...- delmonte

JVC HA-FXZ 100/200
The 200s are heavier than the 100s. Coming from FXT90, they were definitely not as comfortable, but not uncomfortable at all. The word I might use would be cumbersome; if you're on the go a lot, their size might not be really convenient. You might feel like you have a bit less freedom to move...- delmonte

Audio Technica ATH-IM70: A Bold New Direction
I use them straight out of my late 2008 MacBook Pro and iPod classic 160gb with mostly lossless files. I have an E6 which opened up my FXT90s with the iPod but I don't hear much difference when using it with the IM70s so I stopped using it for now. I also use them out of iPhone 4 sometimes but...- delmonte
