I flip flop between black true fit, black star tip, and the comply T100. I think I prefer them in that order too. I get the cleanest sound out of the black true fit. Also agree that shallower tips are better. Longer tips tend to attenuate too much sound.- ubercaffeinated

Offers like these form the manufacturer are pretty generous in my opinion, and I'm not sure it would have been that much cheaper to repair if you tried to get it recabled from someone who knew how to do it after you factor in shipping costs. It would be pretty disgraceful if they tried to...- ubercaffeinated

Yep. This summarizes the Westone house sound and the W60. It's an all around pleaser - literally the perfect universal, just like the W4 before it.- ubercaffeinated

Exactly. A source with less than 1 ohm of output impedance is a must for multi BA IEMs. A good digital source will do the job the same as any other. Priority should be placed on the source of the material/mastering quality of the album. Also, the AK240 has an output impedance of 2 ohms...- ubercaffeinated

I think it's because the W60 was released just this May, while the SE846 has been out much longer and can be had for around $750-800 now from some authorized dealers. I think interest in the W60 will pick up given a few more months. It is a faultless IEM.- ubercaffeinated

Yes, there is a bigger and definite improvement over the W4 (assuming the W40 is the same as the W4 but with improved bass). The W60 is quite literally, a bigger, better sounding, W4. Sound stage is much larger. Imaging/realism of sounds is just ridiculous on these things. I mentioned this to...- ubercaffeinated

Which 50 dollar earphones came with better quality cables than the braided Epic cable? The one with the iPhone controls is pretty average, but the W60 came with two cables, and the braided ones without controls are quite excellent. No microphonics to speak of, no memory wire, no frills - just...- ubercaffeinated

I've gone through maybe 3 or 4 pairs of the red star tips total on my W4, W4R and former UM3X RC, and I have never experienced them expanding in my ear. The star tips are made of medical grade silicone, and can't expand with normal body temperature. It is literally a hollow silicone plug. The...- ubercaffeinated

And that is surprising and unfortunate that you've had the tip remain in your ear like that! If I ever have something like that happen to me, I will immediately post pictures and also contact Westone. I imagine it would take significant force to cause that to happen, so the suction of your...- ubercaffeinated

Westone IEMs have never had a flared flange tip on the nozzle stem to help hold the tip in place - it's never needed something like that as tips do not randomly slide off. And having had owned 4 Westone IEMs to date, I can safely say, none of them had an issue with tips coming off too easily...- ubercaffeinated

Spyro - I can't wait for you to relisten to all of your music. There will be moments that you will literally jump out of your seat or have your spine tingle because you did not expect the placement of the sounds to be so real. This thing takes soundstage and imaging to a level that the W4...- ubercaffeinated

Yeah I'm not sure where the talk about build quality being an issue is coming from. It might be that the SE846 has super amazing build quality, but the W60 isn't brittle by any means. As a basis of comparison, I can safely say that the build quality is at least as good as the UM line...- ubercaffeinated
