Are TCtubes and VacuumTubes.com good places to buy quality NOS tubes?
VacuumTubes.com (not to be confused with VacuumTubes.net - different vendor) has some terrific prices but I'm wondering whether that is due to the merchandise possibly being of lesser quality such as selling used tubes as ANOS or exhibiting microphonics. TCtubes' prices are more in line with...- Strat-Mangler

Can anyone explain how to identify specifically a *1943* Sylvania VT-231? There seems to be no date codes whatsoever. :(- Strat-Mangler

Quick question ; would you guys buy a tube with a crack in its base, if the seller has a good reputation (on eBay) and has confirmed to have tested it in an amp for any abnormal behavior?- Strat-Mangler

Has anybody compared Sylvania 3-hole Bad Boys from 1952 to other years? From what I've read, they were only made during 1950-1953 so I'm wondering if there is any difference in sound from 1952 to the other years.- Strat-Mangler

Aune T1se question about turntables.
The turntable I'm using has an onboard preamp. After doing extensive research, it appears the T1 can't be used with the tube for anything but through USB sources and not even with headphones either. So it's a very specific limited usage for this device and it can't be used as a tube buffer...- Strat-Mangler

Aune T1se question about turntables.
I learned that the tube is not active when connecting a source through a T1 Aune's line-in and am wondering if the same occurs with the T1se? What I'd like to do is plug my turntable into the line-in to take advantage of the tube's beautiful imagery but that's not possible through my T1. If...- Strat-Mangler

Any mods to protect the cable for the Bose QuietComfort 20?
I'm itching to buy one of these for my wife who works in a noisy environment (i.e. blabbermouths). The thin cable is of concern to me as a few reviewers mentioned that it degraded a little too easily. I wish to know if anybody has any tips on easy mods one could perform to strengthen the...- Strat-Mangler

I'd like to add that I did a direct comparison between the 7308 and 6DJ8 Amperex OG and I preferred the 6DJ8 by far. Giving a rough quantifying percentage, I'd say it sounds roughly 20-25% better in my view.- Strat-Mangler

You shouldn't be sanding a tubes legs. As long as there's a connection, it doesn't matter what the legs look like. In extreme scenarios where the legs would be utterly filled with oxidation or rust to the point of the tube being unusable, I'd use some strong alcohol to remove this overnight...- Strat-Mangler
