Thanks for the comparison between Z5 and A3, seems like I have to get rid of my A2 in favour of the A3 now haha.- radrianta

Sony's New 2014 flagship IEM - XBA Z5
@rickyfernandez, let me know who the A3 fares against the Z5! After a few days using the Z5, today I put on my A2 for a while, and everything sounded wrong. Boomy bass, less clarity. I'm now wondering if the A3 would be closer to the Z5..- radrianta

Sony's New 2014 flagship IEM - XBA Z5
By the way, is there any balanced-to-single-ended adapter out there? Is it technically possible? I'm thinking of getting the PHA-3 and the balanced cable. But I do not want to swap cables whenever I do not have the PHA-3 with me.- radrianta

Compared to my Cayin C5. In single ended mode, kinda prefer the Cayin, but in balanced the difference was night and day- radrianta

Sony's New 2014 flagship IEM - XBA Z5
Just tried the PHA-3 with Z5. Using PHA-3 single ended input with stock cable, the Z5 sounded a lot warmer and I kinda felt the bass got bloated. Using balanced input with Sony's MUC-M20BL1 balanced cable, it was brighter, bass less bloated, and more airy. The latter setup put a smile on my face!- radrianta

Thanks @Meth! The stock cable is growing on me, it is now more comfortable than it was when I just got it. One thing that bugs me with the Z5 - it's a dust magnet. I see specks of dust everywhere, on the housing, the memory wire...- radrianta

@cuiter23 thanks for the clarification! Sony website wasn't very clear about the cable configurations. I'll probably get the MUC-M12SM1 if the memory wire is still bugging me. @Meth are you based in Singapore? Let me know where you buy your MUC-M12SM1 after you got yours. Don't think I saw...- radrianta
